“Serene, Comfy...Lovely”
Reviewed 11 August 2011

Staying at this B&B was fabulous. It was comfortable, homey and clean. We stayed in the Balcony room because it had a private (and clean) bathroom. The bedroom was decorated with many things to keep you quietly occupied: playing cards, dominoes, mancala, telescope and an assortment of books. These items were not just stacked on a book shelf. They were left lying around the room for you to find, and the amazing thing was that there was no dust (even with all of the chachkes and books around). Even though it was not decorated to my taste, the room was very comfortable. There was both a fan and a portable a/c unit in the room for your comfort. There was even a comfy hammock in our room.

We had the most spectacular view and food for breakfast. We were served breakfast on the porch overlooking the lake. My husband called it "serene". It was probably the best breakfast my husband I have ever had. Unique and flavorful. If you have certain dietary restrictions or dislikes make sure to tell the chef of the day, they will oblige you. They did provide a gluten free meal for me and made a slight adjustment to make a "normal" meal for my husband.

This B&B is close to Ithaca. Convenient to civilization even though the house seems to be "in the middle of nowhere". Diane, the owner and also an artist, was very helpful about providing us info about the local gems. It was like we had our own, personal concierge since we were there by ourselves for the first night. There isn't always someone in the house working from the B&B. Diane does has many "angels" working for her.

We also were able to help ourselves to the outdoor hot tub in the terrycloth robes that are left in the rooms for our use.

All in all we would highly recommend staying here! Staying here instead of at a hotel "made" our vacation that much more special.

The type of warm and personal stay only possible in a smaller Inn with an experienced host who cares about ensuring guest's comfort. We will definately be back if we are back in the same area. It is worth a trip.

We stayed at the Cayuga Lakefront Inn while passing through the Ithaca area and found the accommodations private, quiet and the inn keepers friendly. It should be noted that there are some interesting quirks, such as the overabundance of ribbon tape and curiously large in-room hammocks, but one would come to expect such conversation pieces at a B&B.

The breakfast was actually quiet good, with much time and consideration spent on preparation, ingredients and presentation. We were late to rise, but were delivered breakfast directly to our patio, a nice touch. Wildlife abounds around the Inn. We saw turkey vultures, deer, rabbits, multiple bird varieties and even a a friendly cat on the property. One down side would be the noting of the hot tub, which is in a thicket of brush outside and swarm of bugs (lakeside on a Summer night = bring plenty of bug spray) that make it nearly impossible to imagine using as freely and openly as stated in the collateral for the Inn. Overall, it's evident that the Innkeepers care about their property and in turn their guests.

Some people exist just to make the world a more beautiful place, and this is definitely true of Diane, the proprietor of the Lakefront Inn in Lansing NY. Every detail was thoughtful, intentional, and exquisite. True artistry of architecture, furnishings, and food. I loved the ready availability of bird identification guides, paint sets, telescope with star gazers' book, and poetry. We were especially lucky because we were the only couple on the property those evenings, and it was soooo quiet--we enjoyed watching the deer, birds, rabbits, and fireflies, and walking down to the lake, and watching the lightning over the water. If an anonymous, cookie-cutter hotel experience is your thing, this inn won't be, but if you appreciate details, love nature and art and have a certain crunchy/craftsy bent, you'll love it. Diane gave us the free run of the kitchen, which was super-convenient. Everything was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. We didn't get to use the outdoor hot tub, because the temperatures were in the 80/90s while we were there, but that was a big attraction for us too--soaking under the stars. Several nice restaurants within a few miles' drive. Diane's breakfasts were awesome and unique too.

This is not your typical B&B with Victorian wallpaper and heavy velvet curtains. It has a modern up to date feel with an old B&B vibe. The room was very comfortable and the view of the lake was spectacular! Diane could not be more friendly and helpful. We look forward to returning in the near future!

This B&B is super isolated in a beautiful house with lake views. You can walk down to the lake in just a few minutes. The rooms were comfortable and quiet - it's a very private place to stay. The hosts were lovely, and the food in the mornings was delicious, especially the smoothies!
There's also an outside hot tub, and it seemed that we were the only ones that used it. It was a great way to enjoy the stars with a glass of wine and few of the lake.
I would recommend this B&B and come back again as well!
