“Relaxing hike 5 minutes from Cornell”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

Buttermilk Falls was easy to get to from Cornell. It is basically an easy hike, although steps are a bit uneven. The falls are beautiful as you hike up through to the top. Would an amazing place to just relax after a day of classes.

“Stunning hike through Buttermilk & adjoining lake”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

Awesome five mile hike that is more or less a loop up (up up) the rim trail, over to bear trail around the lake, and back down the rim trail. If you have knee or other issues, take a walking stick for the hike down. Absolutely beautiful hike.

“Nice falls”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

We went in Nov 13 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The fall is very pretty and is an excellent place for those who loves photography. My children 6 and 12 y.o. enjoyed the gorge trial which is quite easy to walk. Will definitely go again if given the opportunity. Unlike the previous reviewer, the fall is easy to find.

“Difficult to find the falls!”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

We wanted to go to the closest falls site to the town of Ithaca and tried parking at both upper and lower lots, signs were not marked and there were no clear trails . Very pretty area but it was impossible to find a trail. We finally gave up and went to Robert Treman State Park just a few minutes down the road and immediately found beautiful falls and photo spots. Perhaps this part is ok in the summer but in the fall there is nobody there to help.

“A Nice Stop with Beautiful Falls”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

My husband and I were in the Finger Lakes area and decided to spend a day taking a look at some of many waterfalls in the area. We started the morning at Watkins Glen State Park so when we got to the Buttermilk Falls we found that the trail was very steep. We only went part way because we had other falls that we wanted to visit still and didn't want to wear ourselves out. While you may not get to see every waterfall that the park has to offer, the main one is very close to the entrance and a short walk will take you there so don't let the trail ways scare you from making even a short stop here. Definitely worth a stop and even though there is a fee, if you visit any of the other parks in the area that day, you can get in free by showing your receipt.
