Simultaneously spacious and cozy, beautiful and luxuriously comfortable, inspiringly unique -- the rooms, common spaces and grounds and food reflect so personally the life passions of the Master Innkeeper, Michael Kasper, every corner a discovery, delight and fascination. Breakfast was to die for.

We had a charming stay in this fantastic property right outside of Ithaca. Michael was an incredible host and was not satisfied until even the smallest detail was addressed. He kept the fire burning in the wood stove, our rooms cleaned and our minds entertained with a lifetime of stories. Breakfast each morning was as if we had our own personal 5 star chef that could fulfill all our desires. He even helped adorn our room with champagne and flowers to surprise my girlfriend upon returning from my marraige proposal. Needless to say she was thrilled with the whole experience. The entire weekend was magical and far exceeded our lofty expectations. Michael Casper and Private Hotel and Pure Food will forever be a part of our love story!

I wanted to surprise my fiance with a little get-away weekend to Ithaca for his birthday. I did a search for bed and breakfast/inns and Private Hotel and Good Food popped up. The name intrigued me. From the moment I first saw the site, I was hooked. I was looking for something unique and different and it is, wonderfully so. We were greeted by Aggie and shown to our room. We stayed in the upper Gables room in a separate cabin from the main lodge. If you like beautiful wood and the comfort of a log cabin, this is the place to visit. Each room is beautifully appointed with craft wood and furnishings. Michael our host came to greet us and went out of his way to make sure we were well cared for throughout our stay. He recommended a fabulous restaurant for dinner and made us reservations. He gave us suggestions for getting around Ithaca and the Cornell area which became very helpful. My fiance and I happily sat in his outdoor hot tub sipping wine and enjoying the beautiful scenery before heading out for the evening. The next morning, a delicious breakfast was made to order, with love. Thank you, Michael for your extra effort. Having the opportunity to explore the many artifacts of his world travels and hear interesting stories about his adventures added to the "Get-away from it all" weekend I so wanted. I highly recommend Private Hotel and Good Food for those who want to experience a not at all typical bed and breakfast, for those that want to have an adventure!

Loved the log house and the crisp clean sheets and cozy warm atmosphere. Michael is a great host and generous with his time and advice wrt the area and restaurants. Delightful!!!! Breakfast highlight was fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh fruit. We stayed in the immaculate zebra room and our son had the connected room downstairs. I bet it's even better in the summer when it's warmer

3 of us stayed for 2 nights in the Zebra and Lamphouse rooms. Really enjoyed our stay, specifically the unique eclectic decor, high quality furnishings and of course Michael's delicious breakfasts. The B&B is 'out in the woods' about 10-15 minute drive from downtown Ithaca (depending on snow). As New Yorkers we were happy to be out there in the nature. Despite brutal temperatures outside, our rooms were warm and cosy.

Beautiful setting, generous host (thanks Michael!), spotless room, great bed, linens, amenities. Not a classic B&B...a little quirky but in a good way! Planning your breakfast for the next day with Michael is an adventure - embrace it! I also appreciated that it was easy to reach Michael by phone when we had questions.

From the moment we made the reservations we knew we had a gem! Michael and Shavon made our night. They greeted us and showed us to "The Gable Room". We had a cozy, warm room with extremely comfortable accommodations. We enjoyed the unique artifacts and superb craftsmanship. We were fortunate to be invited to a taste testing of Michael's culinary skills where we meet some fabulous folks! The next morning we had the best omelette and a heaping bowl of fruit, with coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. We cannot say enough about our visit and we will return.
