“Mainstay in Collegetown”
Reviewed 14 April 2009

Rulloff's opened in 1978, and it was a welcome change from the Collegetown dives that were pervasive in my undergraduate days at Cornell. It was distinguished as the only place in Collegetown where you could ha ve a nice sit-down with a friend or a professor and get a good steak and have a beer for lunch.
Collegetown has gotten more upscale now, and there are many such places. However Rulloff's still offers a quiet getaway with good food and a quiet atmosphere. The feeling is of Cornell circa 1890, with dark paneled walls and vintage photographs. Entrees in are $10-$24, and appetizers are $5-10.

“My favorite place in Ithaca”
Reviewed 8 July 2008

I came all the way from California to spend two weeks taking a statistics class at Cornell. Rulloff's became my favorite hang-out and restaurant from my first day in Ithaca. They under-promise and over-deliver. The food is excellent (my favorites are the Greek salad and the sweet potato fries), they have a great selection of beer and wine, a hopping bar in the evenings, and the service is friendly and prompt. The environment is a lot of fun. You can hang out in there all day. They need to sell the t-shirts that some of the waiters/waitresses wear because everyone needs to know about Rulloff's!

“Try this place if you're in Collegetown...”
Reviewed 13 March 2008

Ruloff's is a great place to go for a date. The dining area is cozy and has great atmosphere. It is in Collegetown so no dressy attire is needed. The pasta selection is varied and prepared well. Tuesdays are my favorite night to go when the pastas are the special. Parking can be difficult, which is a drawback if you don't live nearby. There is a public garage close by but it is not free. All in all this is a nice restaurant and worth going to at least once.

Rulloff's has really good bar food...the hamburger I had was very good, but nothing to write home able. The sweet potato fries are delicious though, they actually taste like sweet potatoes, which is more than I can say for some other places in town.
