Sunken Meadow State Park has a beautiful beach with mild waves, perfect for children. It also has a boardwalk for exercise, concession stands, kayak launch areas, hiking trails through woods and scenic high bluffs and lots of wooded and grassy acreage for picnic and barbecues.

Well maintained park.
There are (short) hiking trails, beautiful wildlife area, lots of picnic tables and benches,
On the beach side, 3/4 mile long wooden boardwalk which is great for exercise in all seasons, Beach is kept clean by staff. Restrooms OK. Concession stands are burgers and fries type food. OK if you're starving.
Admission, at toll booths, is $8.00 or FREE if you have an Empire Pass ($65/year)
Only downside is 2 of the main parking lots are closed (hopefully it's temporary) making parking in Lot 1 a crowded affair on busy days.

I grew up around here and love this place. The summer attracts a LOT of city folk and sometimes has festivals, so please check their event calendar before you go. It's a beautiful state park that is well taken care of throughout the year. Amazing hiking and running trails. There are signs around the park about poison ivy, so be aware of this. There is a fee to get into the park in the summer months, but I think it's around 10 dollars per car or something to that extent.

The boardwalk is a wonderful place to walk and meet people. The beach is perfect for young children and families. There is fishing and lots to discover. It is not for you if you like crashing waves.

There is something for everyone here. A beautiful (but rocky, beware!) beach with great swimming; hiking and running trails; picnic areas with barbecues; and a golf course.
