My husband and I had the luxury of having dinner at Lake Clear Lodge. We felt totally pampered in a nurturing environment. We were greeted by Ernest and given full access to choosing from a large selection of beer and wine. We enjoyed a delightful appetizer of salmon pancakes as we sat by the open fire sipping our drinks. We made our way to the dining room and were greeted by Gretchen who served us delicious homemade bread and drinks. We then had the duck and the beef stroganoff. Servings were quite large and very tasty. We were each presented with a lettuce salad with cranberries and nuts. All the meat was organic and raised locally. The asparagus was very tender and perfectly cooked. Along with the meat and asparagus we were served a bowl of red cabbage. For desert we had the chocolate log cabin, which was very moist and tasty. The atmosphere was very pleasant. We were able to really relax and let go. Chef Cathy checked in to see how the meal was and offered us second servings if we desired.

Two couples went to the Lodge for dinner. We had all been there before and had a wide variety of entrees and the food was delicious. Our meal this time was far from delicious. Along with being the smallest portions I have ever gotten in a restaurant the food was nothing special. I had the pork loins which came out with a small amount of gravy and one mushroom. The total number of slices was four and they were the size of half dollar.to a quarter. The sauce was sparse. There was some sort of rice mixed with peas that was totally tasteless and not enough gravy to spice it up. The other dish was asparagus which was about 1 oz. on a bed of cut lettuce. It was tender but only enough for a child. The soup was a barley with just sliced carrots and celery. It came in a large bowl and was about a half a ladle so it looked really stupid in the bowl. The salad was cut cucumbers in a vinagerete which was actually quite nice. We all looked at each other and each one meals were of such small servings it made us long for a little more. At the end of the meal as we were deciding on deserts the owner came over and said. "Would you like more there is still plenty for you to eat." Great timing and not really impressive. We did decide to get deserts which was a total joke. We asked for one strudel and one cake and out came the smallest pieces of desert I have ever seen with one small scoup of ice cream. These were to be shared amoung the four of us.WE each had one bite apiece and the desert was gone. The bill was over $400.00 including a $45.00 of pretty average wine and beers for the guys and a mixed drink for my girl friend. All the way home nt one said a word in the car. As soon as we got home we had Stoffers max and cheese. The next days conversation came around to the meal and we all apologized for suggesting this restaurant. Next time it is off to Bellys in Mountan View for prime rib, all you can eat.

OMG the dining experience is nothing short of AMAZING. Start with a choice of a 100+ beers or wines and fabulous appetizers in the Rathskeller then move upstairs for a 3 course dinner featuring innovative entrees based on local (100 Mile) products. Six of us each had a different entrée and we all loved them.
The table is yours for the night. Spend as much time as you'd like downstairs, take a stroll through the grounds and show up at your seat whenever. The pace of serving courses is leisurely and allows for a true "dining" experience. We spent 4 hours from start to finish (without the stroll) and never felt a moment of pressure to vacate the table.
This is the perfect venue for a special date night, an adult dinner party, or a company "group hug."

Very personal attention at this family-owned restaurant/cooking school/lakeside cottage emporium. If you like beer and wines you'll like this one, with the owner very happy to walk you through more than 200 brews from around the world.

Food was good; service was excellent. Definitely a one-of-a-kind experience.

This is our 40th year dining at Hohmeyer's Lake Clear Lodge. And as usual it was a wonderful relaxing night - starting off in the Rathskeller relaxing and talking with Ernest, then a stroll down to the lake to see the sunset. Upstairs Cathy had once again outdone herself - the meals were not only attractive but tasty. It is so refreshing to go out to a restaurant, have the menu explained to you, know exactly what you are eating and not be rushed out the door. Thank you again for a wonderful night and we'll be back soon.
