“Outstanding Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2012

We were 5 adults, 2 couples and a single, who decided to spend a long weekend at Lake George. Looked at the obvious option of getting 3 motel rooms which would have cost about $150/night per room ($450 for 3 rooms) at the nicer places. So we started looking into renting an apartment/condo instead and the Quarters seemed a good choice, right on the lake at about 1/2 the price, at the mid-season rate, of the motel option. We were totally happy with the choice and have talked about making it an annual event.

We selected one of the five adjoining 3 bedroom units which are right on the lake (Unit 22). There are 2 bedrooms on the lower level with a full bathroom between them. One bedroom is the Master with a TV, Jacuzzi, and a small outside deck facing the Lake. The other has 2 twin beds. The next level up was the kitchen, dining area (six chairs and table), a second bathroom with shower, and living area, with a large outside deck with table and cushioned chairs (where we spent many hours, especially watching as the sun rose over the mountains across the lake). A big HDTV, gas fireplace, couch and a couple of stuffed chairs were in the living area. The third level was a loft sleeping area with 2 twin beds.

The condo was spotless, a pleasant surprise with all the use that it must have had over the summer. We were also happy to see that most everything that you might want, like tissue paper, toilet paper, paper towels, bath towels, and kitchen essentials (even coffee filters) were supplied with the unit.

I would recommend that anyone planning a vacation at lake George give the Quarters a consideration. More general information, such as pool, exercise are, boat docking can be found on their excellent web site.

Room Tip: If you need 3 bedrooms, chose 1 of the 5 units closest to and facing the lake (Units 21, 22,23,24,25...

Condo's are very large with a well equipped kitchen that I just loved. Nice having all the paper goods supplied (paper towels, kleenex, toilet paper, dish deter,etc..). Love the views, grounds and gas grills. You are near the village but do need to drive or take the trolley. The pool was small but warm and very clean. I found a evening that I had it all to myself which was great. Small gym and lap pool inside the main bldg.. They have a large deck by the water and small swimming area. We loved having our boat at one of the docks onsite and it is part of the price of the condo rental but no trailer space. Each unit has a patio or deck and the table and chairs are great. Alot of rules and a very quiet place so not a place to party which was good for us! Yes the front desk could use more friendly people and could tell us about the place. Wish they could come up with more parking. Two cars and my son could not find parking and was afraid he was going to get towed! Also if you arrive early they would not let us check in and then cleaned our unit late and it was way after check in time till we could get our place. Glad we waited to food shop!

The Quarters is a very nice place to stay right on Lake George, (one of the most beautiful spots on earth in my opinion). It is nicer than the average place to stay on the lake. Many are more rustic and older than this property. Many of the units have at least a partial view of the lake, and some have a full unobstructed view. They are roomy, comfortable and generally well kept. Full kitchen with all the pots, dishes, etc. Living room, balcony, gas fireplace for the cool nights, jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom all make for a pleasant stay. There is no daily maid service, but towels and bedding are supplied, and there is a laundry room if you need to wash anything. There is a small exercise area and a very small indoor pool,(more like a hot tub size). There is an outdoor pool also,(nice size), and a deck, area and beach by the lake. There is ample dock space if you have or rent a boat, and it is included in the price of the unit, which is NOT the norm for most Lake George motels. Right across the street is Grandma's Back Porch restaurant which is one of our favorites in the area, and you can make a quick walk down the street to Neuffer's Deli for good sandwiches, subs, coffee, and general light living supplies, as well as a friendly staff.

We had a great time at The Quarters. We were in units 23 and 24, two townhouses right next to one another. We had 6 people in each ranging from 11 months to grandparents. Each townhouse gave us plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. We were right on the water. The views were amazing. We were less than a five minute drive into the village and about 15-20 into Bolton landing. There were a couple of restaurants to walk to but we grilled a lot with so many grills easy to access on the property. The kids loved playing in the lake and they also enjoyed the pool. The kitchen was clean and well equipped. The decor left something to be desired but we were rarely inside to notice. The balcony space was beautiful and the patio furniture very comfortable. I agree with the other comments. The front desk staff was not very friendly or helpful. We had some questions that I thought would be simple if you lived in the area. Even if you don't have the answer a little enthusiasm would have gone a long way. The man cleaning the pool and helping with the recycling was helpful. Kayak or row boat rentals would have been great. Overall, it was great and we would go back and recommend to others.

The Quarters at Lake George are condos. Very nice condos. Usually when visiting Lake George we had historically stayed at hotels and cabins. You don't go to Lake George if you are looking for upscale or updated or fancy - you expect things to be rustic, outdated decor and not the 'clean' that you would expect from a hotel stay elsewhere.

Well, the quarters condos were lovely! They were CLEAN and nicely appointed. Usually when you rent a condo or cabin for the week you are made to bring your own toilet paper, bath towels, dishwashing liquid, coffee filters, etc.... you have to bring half your house with you. What I loved about the Quarters is that they provide all of these things during your stay - you do not have maid service but all of these details are taken care of.

The indoor pool is very small but also warm which is great for young children who can't tolerate the colder lake and outside pool.

We had a unit inside the mansion and it did get warm upstairs at times as there was not a thermostat up there.

The lake access sandy beach was small but ample.

One draw back was that row boats and kayaks were not offered

Overall, real nice place, close to town, very good value if you get off season pricing.

We rented a 3 level townhouse style unit for a week and could not have been happier with the room. The bottom floor was a bath and 2 bedrooms, one with 2 twins and one with a queen & jacuzzi. The second floor had a beautiful kitchen, dining area, bathroom and living room. The third level was a loft with 2 twin beds. It was perfect for our family of 4 and would have been fine if we had another couple with us. The unit had all the comforts of home with a lcd tv, DVD and VCR, modern kitchen, comfortable beds. We also had an upper and lower level deck which was wonderful since we were directly on the lake. The only problem we had, which I can overlook since everything else was perfect, is that the staff when we checked in was very rude. We had been in the car for about 3 hours and would have liked to be greeted by someone friendly. The women at the desk did not even greet us. We walked in, waited for them to finish their conversation and asked if we could check in. One of them just said "what unit?" and shoved a packet of papers at me to fill out. The woman at the desk when we checked out was very nice though. Also, it is worh mentioning that this is not a hotel. Housekeeping services should not be expected. You must bring your own trash to the dumpster and at the end of your stay, they ask that you gather up all of the towels and bedding and leave them in a central location for cleaning staff.

The Quarters at Lake George offers "fractional ownership" of high-quality apartments (in the victorian mansion house) and town-homes that are available for exchange through RCI and Interval International, as well as rental (two night minimum) to the general public. We exchanged through Interval and obtained a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo apartment in the mansion house which accommodated two adults and 4 children (ages 7, 9, 9 and 14) very well. The decor was modern and and included a beautifully updated kitchen and bathrooms with granite counter tops and ceramic floors and we were able to spend a week away with "most" of the comforts of home. The view of Lake George from our balcony was beautiful; however, despite the weather being unseasonably warm and sunny (March), we had no outdoor furniture, only the cushions. Another negative was that there is no in-unit washer/dryer and getting access to them was a problem given that the staff were using all of the machines to, in their words, "do the seasonal change-over of bedding". Also, because our stay was during the off-season, the main (outdoor) pool was closed and only a small "sports" pool (the size of a double jacuzzi) was available, and can only be accessed by going outside after 5:00 p.m. (a problem in cold weather) since there is no staff on duty after 5:00 p.m. and the main doors are locked. On one occasion, my husband was unable to unlock the main door with the key provided and because we were inside the condo with the patio door closed, were unable to hear him call us to let him in. It was only when we realized he was gone too long that we went to find him and let him in. If you are travelling as a couple and looking for a relaxing vacation away from it all, then the Quarters at Lake George is an ideal spot in March; however, if you are travelling during spring break with children, you will find it challenging to keep them entertained since, for the most part, the town closes down between October and May. We would like to give it another try in the "high season" since there are many child-friendly activities that are open during the summer months.

Room Tip: Unit 10 is located right next to the main desk in the victorian mansion and noisy when people were c...
