“Beautiful place!”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

It was a nice little hike to this area, if i recall a bit of a drive to get to where the hike started, but, it wasn't a hard hike at all.

“Lots of fun”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

The trail, river and falls were awesome. An easy hike for novice and out of shape hikers. Only negative is the long drive (some on unpaved roads) to get there

“Nice hike for families”
Reviewed 13 August 2013 via mobile

True it is difficult to find - the trick is that after Hogtown Road, and Hogtwon Trailhead and Parking shortly after (about 9.4 miles from NY 149 on Buttermilk Falls Road / later Sly Pond Road / later Shelving Rock Road), you have to curve left and drive another 3 miles on a steep and twisty road. Once you arrive close to the Shelving Rock Falls, the are signs for parking and how you get to the falls (0.4 miles from the lot only). I went there with my family, and even my two year old daughter was able to walk most of the way (no strollers possible though). The falls are very nice. If you continue to walk down the path, you get to Lake George. We saw a lot of folks with bikini, trunks, and flip flops walking up to the fall. Overall a nice experience.

“Great Hike for Young and Old”
Reviewed 12 August 2013

This is a great hike for inexperienced hikers. Very easy to do from very young to very old and can take you down right to Lake George. The only issue is that from Lake George Village it takes at least 30 to 40 minutes to get to it and about 5 miles on a dirt road. Very pretty.
