We usually go to salt water beaches for vacation but having been to lake George a few years back we decided to return. I find the $10 parking fee ridiculous. But once you pay that it's free. This beach was overcrowded, the sand was full of shells, rocks and other things. Overall not the best sand at all. Due to confined swimming areas the water is over run with young children. And is very shallow. I would just go right down the beach connected to million dollar beach where the signs say no wading or boating but plenty of people do and never get in trouble. Wouldn't return to this "beach".

The Million Dollar Beach in Lake George is a very pretty beach on the lake. The water is very clean and refreshingly cold. There is plenty of room to put your stuff down and relax without being crowded by your neighbor. The sand on the beach was pretty clean also. The facilities are nice and super clean. There is a $10 parking fee, but we walked from our hotel with no problem. We stayed for a little over an hour, and that was a perfect amount of time. Overall, this is a very nice lakeside beach and should be visited if you are in the area.

yes...this review is a bit misleading. i never go to the million dollar because A, it is always crowded, and B, i refuse to be confined to roped off swim areas. this review is for the beach the locals refer to as the 'dog beach'...a phrase i myself coined before it became known as. moving on.....
the million dollar itself is a nice beach..sprawling areas of sand, shallow water, bathroom facilities and a snack bar. but as i said, i never come here. if you want to save yourself the parking fee, and have fido in hand (or leash), check out the dog beach. the dog beach feeds right into the million dollar but without any ropes...facilities or lifeguards. swim at your own risk! infact, there are three signs in the water warning against bathing and wading. however, when you see the at times more than 100 people enjoying the lake it is one of those instances where the authorities take a blind eye to. the beach was indeed adopted from the folks at the dog cabin so probably because of that, the town allows bathers to enjoy the water. however..this beach is not without its faults. for one, when it gets busy, it can get real obnoxious. most people love dogs, but when you have an abundance, again, it can get very annoying, especially with irresponsible owners. i've rarely seen anything to cause reason for much concern but it's not uncommon to find a dog relieving itself somewhere on the lake..and luckily, most of these owners are quick to pick it up. the best part of this beach is the sand and swimming...it boasts some of the smoothest sand (in the water) at the lake, and it stays shallow for a good 100 feet out or more. it is by far the best swimming beach in lake george, save for private beache's. the other obnoxious thing is it can attract some trashy people who feel they don't need to pick up after themselves. lake george, please, supply trash recepticles and maybe these losers will have the mindset to use them instead of just littering. also, bugs can be a mjor issue. without fail, i am under attack from biting flies who must be in the guiness book of world records of most annoying pests. best time to get here is between 9-11 am..stretching to noon. the beach is usually very peaceful and relaxing. once the hoardes show up...whatever your tolerance for crowds are will determine how long you stay. if you opt to spend your day basking in the sun at the million dollar, just be advised that, if you want to be near the swim area, there will be 100s of other people around you...and don't think about swimming in the non designated areas unless you want some 16 year old lifeguard blowing a whistle at you

The water was absolutely beautiful - crystal clear and nice and cool. The beach was crowded but not unbearable. Smaller than I thought it would be, but you park for $10 and you can walk around - so I'd suggest going here.
