I have been in Love with Pizza Jerks for a few years now, and felt like I was cheating on them if I went for Italian anywhere else. Their food is great, the service fabulous, and did I say the food is really great? The other day I found a new love..sorry Pizza Jerks my family made me go! Soprano's is adorable, they have this Godfather theme that they keep not only in decoration, but on the menu that looks like a news bulletin. The back of the menu even has a list of "mobster technology" where they have a note at the bottom saying "This Glossary has been formatted for your enjoyment and is not reflecting terminology stereotypically associated with Mafia in the U.S. Or The Italian American Community.. hehe so cute! This is a review over two days just so you dont thik I ate all this at one time! Have you ever seen a pretty pizza? Well now I have, it was so pretty I had to just look at it for a moment and enjoy the view before eating! This slice of heaven was called the Barbecue Buffalo Chicken Pizza, you have your choice of buffalo hot sauce, made from scratch by the way that burns your mouth, or barbecue sauce that was really good. Most places just dump the chicken in some barbecue sauce and make a messy saucy pizza, but not these guys.. they put very good cut pieces of chicken, not just messy pulled chicken under the cheese, then make pretty little lines of barbecue sauce on top as if it were a fancy dessert! My daughter had their Pizza named "The Santa Teresa" its a white biana pizza that is so yummy. I also had to try the Philly cheesesteak pizza. I wasn't sure what slice was what when I looked at them because all the slices look so neat and pretty, the toppings are hidden under the cheese so you can eat it without a messy face! This has the peppers, the steak, the cheese, a great mild sauce it was really something amazing! Their pizza isn't covered in a red canned or bottled sauce like so many other pizza joints, they make their pizza into an artform, each pizza has its own special sauces, each prepared freshly by the artists in the back. For wing lovers, oh how I love these wings! They make these also by scatch, they actually crush the peppers freshly, its not a frank's sauce base or a louisianna hot sauce base from a bottle, its totally fresh so you won't find another like it. The wings are covered in this amazing red sauce with actual flecks of the peppers still on them, for the weak ones like me I recommend picking off those flecks after your first wing so you can breathe later without fire coming out of your mouth. Of course they give you the celery, the dressing, which helps but even better is following it with a cannoli, an amazing italian dessert with a flaky pastry outside and creamy yumminess inside. Their mini cannoli are $1.00, its about 4 bites for the average person, just adorable and fits in your hand, but won't kill your diet for the day, the large are good size but full of sugar, worth it if you ask me. Another wing selection that I had to get, hot foods kill me, was the Garlic Romano wings..OH MY! These wings are rolled in a mix that they came up with, these guys truly are artists, they roll them in a mix of garlic, romano cheese and either a butter or oil, my daughter and I went crazy for them and my fiance who had the hot wings just had to try a couple they were so amazing. My fiance bought the Tomato & Mozzarella salad.. It was art.. slices of real mozzarella top your salad so pretty it almost looks like a dollop of sour cream, the base is lettuce, dark green and very fresh, with tomatoes sliced perfectly and arranged as a base, roasted red peppers, and a very very good homemade dressing of balsamic vinagrette.
The menu is so adorable I just want to mention some of it here. They feature "fahgeddaboutit hero's" for those non native New Yorkers or those confused that is forget about it.. start at 5.95, all are hot heros and vary from eggplant to parmigiana's. "A Pasta FA U" is their pasta section which includes pasta dishes of course starting also at 5.95. "The Administration " Administration is explained under the mob glossary as the boss of the crime family..and they include salad and pasta with their Parmigiana meals or Eggplant Rollentini, starting at 10.95 for alot of food. Back to pizza, let me tell you about a few of their other pizzas. The empty suit-plain cheese, The Gumba Pie-sausage, pepperoni, meatball, La Comara is veggie, The Godfather is meatball, mushroom, pepperoni &onions, The Stuffed Trunk is broccoli, spinach, mushroom&onions sauteed with garlic&oil with lots of grated romano & mozz cheeses, and The Underboss is Eggplant Rolentini pie with eggplant, mozz, romano cheeses with homemade tomato sauce. They also feature a Penne Ala Vodka Pizza.. seriously doesn't that sound interesting? They also have a grill section great for the little ones or grill lovers with chicken fingers, burgers, hot dogs that include lettuce, tomato, onion and french fries starting at 4.95. Soprano's is located on Canada street (same as Route 9) near Beach Rd, look for the red and white awning and the cute fake italian guy telling you today's specials. Worth the visit!
