“Disgusting Hotel!!!”
Reviewed 16 June 2010

This place was absolutely horrible! I wish I would have taken pictures of how gross it was....the rooms were so old, The sheets were dirty, the bathroom sink wouldn't stop leaking, there was hard water stains in the sink and bathtub. I didn't even want to shower it was so nasty...and they say NEWLY remodeled!! When in the 1950s??!! I don't even believe that anyone would have their wedding there, they are probably writing their own reviews. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone, believe me there's a lot nicer hotels in the area. Don't waste your money on a sorry excuse for a "resort." And their "free" wireless internet SUCKS!

I stayed at this location with my family as well as extended family. Without being judgmental I’ll list the facts. The pool was not heated. The jets on the hot tub did not work although the water there was warm. Hot tub was small in size and filled with too many small children. We liked the location of the place, the accommodations were fitting. The full size fridge, grill and picnic table outside were nice. Parking was close to the room. The staff was friendly upon checking, helpful on answering questions and providing guidance of the amenities

The really bad, the place was mouse infested. Although we did not see or hear a mouse we did find mouse droppings underneath the sink, inside the drawers where the utensils and glasses were, underneath the bathroom sunk and the vanity drawer as well.

We made this horrible discover while searching for a sponge to do dishes and extra TP which were not available.

After the frustrating reality of the situation we were in we decided to tough it out since it would only be 1 night. We tried to rest on the couch and watch the TV. when we noticed that there were droppings on the couch as well. Yuck!!!

We inspected the bedrooms for any surprises; I have to say the bedrooms were a droppings free zone. That made the situation better but by then I had to also make sure the mattress was bed bug free. Good news. Mattress was clean!

After sleeping, we decided to get ready in the morning and check out as quickly as possible. The shower was difficult to operate. 2 handles seem easy enough to operate but for some reason it took a long time to regulate the water. It became evident that the issue was the hardware when after the last person showered they could not be turned off and maintenance was called in to shut off the water supply.

Other than that we made the most of it. The beach across the road was small, but it was ok. It was very private and we were the only one's there. The owners of the dock have an agreement to let the guests of the hotel use the space. You go to the front desk, sign in and get a special wrist band. There is no lifeguard so you do use it at your own risk. It is not a public space and yes, the owners of the marina might and should be unfriendly if you try and step foot on THEIR property. I understand it from the safety, security and liability perspective.

Overall the place had some architectural points for admiration, there were some cute details. The kids enjoyed the playground and there is a view of the lake from the property. Not necessarily from your room but the view is beautiful and definitely a great backdrop for pictures.

On the renovation, based on other places I've stayed around the vicinity of the lake this place was not much better or worst on the finishes. It is comparable on the renovation work they completed.

This trip was a nightmare. Very expansive compared with other hotels in that area. Yet not worth the money you are paying for. Lake view was a joke. Because they park their commercial van in front of the lake-view rooms that totally block the lake view, with no control of people parking anywhere they want which could block the view also, and they don't own the beach across the street. Beach keeper was very unfriendly and not welcomed hotel visitors to the beach at all. Whole Lake George Town was not very friendly to visitors. Not recommend!!!! If you want a peaceful vacation, don't go there.

When my wife and I were engaged, we looked at many of the top Hotel/ Resorts in the Lake George area. When we sat down with Mark and Lynn at Dunham’s Bays, Mark was the first and only person to look my wife in the eyes and say, "What would you like your wedding to be?" This was absolutely refreshing, since throughout the whole process all we dealt with were wedding planners pushing different packages and their vision on us.

My wife and I had an idea in our mind of what we wanted and I can confidently say Mark and Lynn at Dunham’s Bay helped us achieve it. Being from out of town, a majority of our guests needed to travel and made our wedding into their family summer vacation or long weekend getaway. We wanted a facility that would be able to accommodate everyone and allow our guests to mingle with one another even when we were not there.
Our wedding had nearly 170 guests and Mark and Lynn accommodated more wishes and demands then I will ever realize. If anything arose the staff handled the issue with the class, precision and mindfulness of a 5 star resort. For example, the night before the wedding turned out to be beautiful and many of the guests were hanging outside by the bonfire. Realizing this, Mark quickly set up a bar outside to accommodate those guests. Additionally after one of our guests’ ride fell through- leaving them stranded at the train station over an hour away, Mark himself drove and picked them up without even a second thought. It was this attention to detail that made all of our guests feel instantly welcomed and important.

Looking back on our wedding day at Dunham’s Bay, words cannot describe how appreciative we are to Mark and Lynn. They truly went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our wedding day was exactly what we wanted it to be. From our cocktail hour by the pool, to the reception on the tennis courts, to an after hours bonfire on the green… it was everything we imagine. To this day, friends and family still talk about our wedding and rave about the wonderful service, excellent food (best crab cakes!), and spectacular accommodations. Both my wife and I would recommend Dunham’s Bay to anyone for any purpose. If we had to do it again, we honestly would not change a thing. From start to finish, everything was perfect and we cannot thank Mark and Lynn enough for everything they did to make our wedding day exactly what we imagined.

Our daughters wedding was in October at Dunhams Bay. We cant say enough about how wonderful the staff was, especially Mark and Lynn. The food was wonderful, the bar was wonderful everything was great. Before, during and after the wedding everything went very smooth. Our family felt like they were at a Family reunion. The camp fire was was a great finish to the day. Thankyou again Mark and Lynn we couldnt have asked for more.

We had our daughter's wedding at Dunham's Bay ! My husband and I wanted to have the wedding somewhere which we could just show up and have a great time! And my daughter and son-in-law picked the perfect spot. Everything was perfect! Especially the food~~everyone at our Thanksgiving Dinner was still talking about how wonderful the food was. (Which triggered me to get this review done.) The service, food and accommodations certainly exceeded everyone's expectation's.
Thanks to Mark, Lynn and all of your staff!

This place had everything we needed for our daughters wedding. We had the rehearsal and dinner on Friday, the wedding on Saturday and breakfast in the hotel on Sunday.
Mark worked with us on the menu and the food was delicious (especially the "porch sweet chicken"). Most of the choices we made were with their guidance, and they were spot on. They recommended the DJ, flowers and the bakery. They even promised us a nice day (it was sunny and 60, just right for a ceremony in front of the lake......in NOVEMBER). Lynn was so helpful through all of the festivities (who needs a wedding planner?) We could not have been happier and had such a great time. Thank you to all of the Dunham's Bay staff. They were terrific!
