To start with, when entering the room my daughter yelled, "this place is sick". No higher praise from a teenager. The rooms are great, definitely an Adirondack motif with wood ceilings and stone floors so if you like the "3 little bears" look with updated, well appointed kitchens, this is your place. It's a good thing because the garage and elevator to get to the room are a little sketchy.
Where they lost points with me really were the strict rules. We were having a family reunion at Lake George and we were going to spend one day at 3 different places. One day at a private townhouse on the lake, one at the Sagamore where another family was staying and one day here. Well I understand that it might not be expected to have 12 extra people use the pool and beach, it was a rainy Friday afternoon and not really full to begin with. We were charged $25 each or $300 plus tax for 4 hours to go to a beach and a small pool without towel service. I asked if any kind of discount could be applied as we were all having dinner at the boathouse (part of the property) that night, but none was offered. The pool by the way is quite small and the beach for the lake is nice but certainly not expansive. Some of my guests were kind of harassed by the staff to "register" before I could get to them.
In addition, the 10 am checkout is a bit early compared to other places and the paperwork to describe the check out process emphasizes extra late fees and all the cleaning you need to do. Not to mention that our room was only ready about 3:15 to check in. Not sure why their cleaners cannot do towels and dishes if they need all day to get a room ready.
One nice aspect was the guys running golf carts and giving rides from one end of the facility to another. This is essential here if you have anyone older as the property is quite hilly and difficult to get up and down in spots.
Dinner at the boat house was very nice and the food was solid, but keep in mind the boathouse does not have air conditioning.
All and all a very nice place but with some rough service edges.
