Our friends - who have been coming for the past 20 plus years - convinced us to join them three years ago and we were so pleased we have come back again each summer. Ron is a warm and welcoming host who keeps the facilities looking perfect. The breakfast spread each morning is extensive and delicious- eating breakfast on the veranda with the flowers in bloom and the view of the lake takes all your cares away. Still Bay is one of the very loveliest properties on the lake and we love coming each year.

Room Tip: The lower corner room has an amazing view of the lake.

My wife and I stayed at Still Bay in May, 2012 over a long Memorial Day weekend. After a long stressful summer, we make it back to Still Bay for an 8 night stay right up to the closing day after the Labor Day weekend. Still Bay is a lakefront property with a sandy beach and a Boat House. We do not have a boat, but that did not keep us from buying lunch at a local deli and enjoying eating our lunch on a picnic table on the boat house in the shade, watching the Lake, the local wild life that included a couple of families of ducks and a large Great Blue Heron. Only one lone sea gull, but several birds of prey. The owners' dog, Georgia, does a nice job of chasing the Geese away. There are several grills available, and while we enjoyed several nice restaurants, we also grilled our dinner on a couple of evenings. Breakfast is always great, don't miss the homemade scones!! We needed this stay to get our wits back together, and had a relaxing time recharging the batteries.
We are looking forward to returning next summer for more of the same.

Room Tip: Our favorite is Room Number 1, with its sliding glass door and deck looking out over the Lake. There...

My friends and us stayed there for three days on the property and it was right on the Lake. The Lake was what made it so beautiful and pretty to stay at.

The rooms needed some updating and touch up. The biggest issue was the size of the bathroom and beds. If you ever been on a cruiseship, the bathroom on the cruise ship is a little bigger than what you have at this b&b. You can literally have one person at a time in the bathroom and the shower was a tight standup shower. They had a full size bed which was uncomfortable and tight.

They had continental breakdfast, but nothing to brag about. I have had way better continental breakfast at Holiday Inn and other hotels. They pasteries, banana daily (no other fruit), pancake/french toast, eggs, sausages, bagels, cereal, juice and coffe/teas. There definitely was nothing memorable about their breakfast, but it was free - served 8a- 10a, so you needed to get up early to catch it.

Ron and Bob were really nice and accomodating. The Lake was beautiful and were lucky to have a gorgeous weather for the weekend we stayed. If you rent a boat for the day, you can dock your boat at their bay.

Stayed for a week, great location, nice beach, far enough away from the downtown area, but a close drive. Hot Breakfast, to be honest variety does not change much from day to day, but most people will eat the same thing each day anyway. Always scambled eggs, sausage, and either french toast or pancakes. Bacon might be a nice change. Lots of danish, donuts and muffins, bagels, etc. One suggestion would be for some fresh fruit, especially in the summer season. They only had bananas. Children will be more than happy as will the adults with the breakfast. Rooms are very clean, shower stall is small, maybee 3'X3', however, children and young adults should have no problem, Would like to see more than 1 bath towel per person. Keep in mind you are staying at a lake motel, so to me pine paneling would be the norm, but some people may feel that the rooms are dated. there was 1 nite where I did hear some sort of animal crawling around in the ceiling, but only 1 nite. I would stay there again. The owners are very nice and gracious hosts. Very accommodating, the grounds were also very nice. Unless you want a different style eggs for breakfast each day, or want a bathtub, Still Bay is the place to stay!!

We had a nice first visit to Lake George. Friends suggested the Still Bay Resort located right on the lake. We were greeted by the owner, Ron, who was very accomodating. He got us checked in and gave us suggestions for places to eat, adding that breakfast was included in our room.

The location of the resort is perfect, just the right distance from the hustle and bustle of the LG village. Right on the main road along the western side of the lake, we could drive into town in about 10 minutes and 15 the opposite direction to quainter Bolton Landing. Getting to the resort off 87 took less than 10 minutes.

A key perk for the resort is that you can dock your boat there - we don't own a boat so we couldn't take advantage of this. The beach itself served it's purpose - not thing special. We did walk to the end of the boathouse and jumped in from there. For the beginning of July the water was cold - seemed that way off the boathouse dock - this was also late afternoon we were already in the shade. Better if you just rent a boat and get yourself somewhere on the lake to do your swimming.

They have paddleboats available for the guest to use - these were fairly old and being out in the elements needs a little rinsing. Otherwise, they were fit for use.

As for the rooms, we were in the long, classic motel like building. I agree with other reviews they are small but I'd say cozy. Not like our family of four was smushed in. We had the 2 rooms - soon as you walk-in the queen bed was there then the 2 double beds for our 12 and 13 yr olds were in what we can call the bedroom. Was not crazy about this setup - best if they switched it. Small 13" TV and no phone - not that we needed these. Internet was not available but I was able to get a poor signal in the resort next door. One thing of note is that at night there seems to be critters running around in the drop ceiling - we later determined that chipmunks were building some type of next up there. Meant to tell the owners but we had to leave very early Monday to continue our drive up to Quebec.

Every morning, breakfast was served in the main house. As mentioned in other reviews, they have a nice variety of bagels, pastries, cereals and the like. For hot food there was always scrambled eggs, french toast or pancakes, and sausages. They are very accomodating - when they had french toast one morning - another family's child said she'd rather have pancakes so one of our hosts, Ron, offerred to make them. That's service! Nice to see that the mom declined gracefully and urged her child to have what was offerred.

Overall it was a nice visit. For the room and amenities we got, I think the prices were higher than what I would have liked to pay. However, I think the perk of having the boat docks is what people go for here.

I've been going to Lake George ALL my life and it has never disappointed. My 89 year old father traveled with me, and it's was quite a while since his last visit. Still Bay was everything I was looking for. Peace, quiet and above all a beautiful lake front. I must say Still Bay would'nt have cut it as a kid; no pool, playground, or water activities, and no other kids to play with, just what I'm not looking for at my age.
The breakfast was amazing, so much more then I had expected, and the owners and staff were so friendly and extremely accommodating.
Yes the rooms are small and and the bathroom is tight and the TV isn't a flat screen, but how much time do you spend in it. It was very clean and well maintained during our stay. By the way I thought the WiFi connection was amazing for being in the mountains.
If you're looking for your cookie cutter chain motel/hotel with all the fancy amenities you won't find that here or for that matter anywhere in Lake George, for that I am so happy.
As we were leaving to come home, my father remarked what a nice time he had, and if I would be interested in coming back next year. Sure! Same place? Sure! Can we stay longer next time? Most definitely!!!!

Room Tip: Down stairs rooms have a porch if it rains, and a nice view of the lake, upstairs has neither.

My family just got back from vacation at Still Bay and we were very happy to have stayed there. It was exactly what we thought when we booked it: quiet location outside the busy village of Lake George, a private beach for the kiddos to play on, free breakfast, and reasonable rates. Most of the guests we spoke to said they'd been coming back for many years and we can see why.

Pros:
The beach. It was a 20 second walk from the rooms. There were other guests but it was so big we almost always felt like we were the only ones on it. My kids--3 and 6--loved swimming and going on the paddleboats. Having the private beach so close and open allowed us to do other things (horseback riding, shopping, Magic Forest, etc.) during the day and still be able to get plenty of swimming/beach time in mornings or early evenings or whenever in between.

The breakfast. Exactly as described. Lots to eat for the kiddos and adults and things were replenished throughout the serving time. Muffins, donuts, bagels, scones, coffeecakes, sausage, hot pancakes or french toast.

The location. Just minutes by car to the village of Lake George but quieter and without the traffic hassles of being right in Lake George.

Not so Pros:
The rooms. It is an old Lake George resort and the rooms reflect that. The grounds of the place are well kept up but, yes, the room and furnishings were all best described as 70's. The TV was tiny. The bathroom was tiny. Was nice to have the girls each have a twin bed in a separate room though.

The neighbors. Still Bay itself was a good quiet place to read a book at night--which is all I wanted once the girls were in bed. Unfortunately, one of the neighboring resorts (Depe Dene) had "family party" nights with a DJ and blaring sound system Mon, Wed & Fri nights until 9:30. Not Still Bay's fault, but just know it going in.

All in all, it was a great place for the money and we'll likely be going back.
