“My favorite family owned motel in the village of Lake George!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Stayed here for the past 2 years, and I have to say it is a lovely place. Rooms are oh so clean and updated, so much that you'd never guess they're pet friendly! Dee Dee, the maid, is a sweetheart and does a great job at making sure your room is spotless. The pool is a bit older, but still very nice and in good condition! I won't stay anywhere else :)

My daughter and her fiance were looking for a motel in Lake George (our favorite vacation spot) that would accommodate their doggie. They were so happy to find The Lake George Inn. Julianna and Ian were getting married in Lake George and wanted Hazel to be a part of the wedding. Tragically, 2 weeks before the wedding, Hazel was struck by a car in a hit and run and had to be put down. It put quite a pall over the wedding plans, but Dan and Diane couldn't have been nicer and more helpful to everyone in the wedding party and the guests who called with questions. Everyone's rooms were spacious and very clean and the beds are so comfortable! Each room had a refrigerator. The pool was huge, clean, and gorgeous. The motel is conveniently located at the corner of Route 9 and 9N and a short walk to the village and a private little beach where the ceremony was held. Most of the wedding party and guests had never been to Lake George and they all said they would be coming back and staying at The Lake George Inn.

Room Tip: If you have issues with stairs, I would recommend a room on the first floor.

Our trip was not planned until the week before...we were initially planning to arrive on a Friday & leave the following Friday. As luck would have it we actually decided to come entirely by motorcycle & arrived on Saturday & had to leave leave on a Thursday. (Thu nite was optional) Since we were booking within the 10 day cancellation period, Diane was kind enough to hold our reservation & allow me overnight to speak with hubby & work a nightshift before calling her back the next day to confirm our arrival & departure dates. During the course of conversation re: our mode of transportation we wound up with, courtesy of Diane's parents, 4 whole days worth of scenic motorcycle rides in different directions around the Lake George area. THANK YOU to Diane's parents for that! We spent little time in the room except for bathing, sleeping & a visit to the reasonably priced on-site washer/dryer. There were no issues with room...more than sufficient hot water for bathing, comfortable bed, clean room. Noise of traffic was not an issue either since we live on a main route & I suppose are used to 'traffic'. The only issue I had over which Diane & Dan the hotel's owners had no control, had to do with the inconsiderateness of OTHER guests who used the dryer WITHOUT first laundering in soap & water their soiled pool clothing & lied about it. My husband actually admitted he liked travelling to points north of home as opposed to south, so it is likely that we will return to areas of the Adirondacks, Catskills, Hudson & St. Lawrence River & Finger Lake regions of NY state. If we have a choice of where to stay we would stay here again in the future as long as Diane & Dan are there.

Room Tip: Our room faced the Lake & seemed to be more quiet than the other side facing away from the Lake...

Positives: Clean room, VERY comfortable queen bed

Negatives: Very noisy, Inn is at an intersection and a far walk from the stores and shops but you can walk it, listened to motorcycles all day and night, staff not very friendly ( mentioned we were going to King Neptunes Pub and didn't even bother to mention she had coupons, when we inquired about breakfast places, she suggested a place that was farther away than we wanted but we ended up going to Grandma's Backporch which was EXCELLENT!! I don't know why she didn't mention that great place). Pool was disgusting and old not to mention it is right on the triangle of the two main roads, the shower would go from extreme hot to extreme cold through the whole shower cycle at all times of the day and night, getting in and out of inn was difficult (we were near the office upstairs), one night we didn't even have room to park so we had to park really close to the upstairs and cram our way in, when we checked out the gentleman didn't even bother to ask us how our stay was or anything. Needless to say, we were kind of disappointed.

Staff is friendly and helpful. We had an upstairs room with a king size bed. The room was totally clean, spacious enough, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was more than ample, with enough counter space for all the necessities, and the water pressure in the shower was more than sufficient. It's just a five minute walk to a small section of beach on the lake, and it's right at the intersection of routes 9 and 9N, literally a ten second drive from I-87. This hotel does not have a restaurant on site, but there are plenty of restaurants within a five minute drive. Nice pool area, but the pool is on the small size, as is typical of most hotels in this area.

Very affordable (off-season) but you get what you pay for here. Bathroom was clean, toiletries were cheap. Mattresses were recent, but firmer than preferred, pillows no support and too soft. Dorm fridge in room, but no screen for sliding door. Because of room location (L side near RT9N) you could hear traffic drone, luckily off season and less traffic after 11pm. Alarm clock in room, but no clock/radio. AC fan was too loud, so forget about white noise cures. Housekeeping staff was very polite and courteous, office staff, less so. Plusses? Great fireworks view and close to Lake George Village. Left a day early, office clerk didn't even notice nor ask why the reason for early departure. By this point, I was just happy to leave.

We stayed at The Lake George Inn for two nights and found it extremely clean and comfortable. The rooms are small, but we weren't in them but to sleep. The bathroom is modern and was hospital clean. The staff left us cute little folded towels and washcloths with soap and shampoo nestled in them. Chairs and a small table are provided for each room if you like to sit outside or if you smoke. No smoking in the rooms. I would go back there again because it is right near everything and reasonably priced. The morning coffee was free and delicious, but the owner must not be a morning person because he only grunted at me when I said "Good Morning!" I would suggest making a reservation because it was full when we were there.
