“Nice, except for that one building..”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2010

It's a fairly decent place, nice lobby, fair pool, and nice view of the lake.. but for some reason there's one building among the three that's nasty.. I'm not sure why the owner hasn't renovated it.. I was there on business, but if I stayed there for pleasure and expected the nice section of the hotel, I'd be sorely upset if I got the building that I ended up in..

Very pleasantly surprised at this hotel. I was a little uncertain from some of the reviews I read, but I'm not quite sure what people don't like about this hotel. We travel alot and have stayed at some very upscale hotels, and we couldn't have been happier here. It's clean, close enough to walk to everything... beautiful view of the water, huge pool, nicely landscaped. Jr suite with king bed spacious with fridge and microwave. We did not eat at the restaurants, so cannot comment on those. Indoor pool area small, but we stayed outdoors only. No complaints... beats all the other "junky" motels along the strip!!

Picture your typical roadside motel and that's what this is. The beds were the best part, actually ~ quite comfortable. The indoor pool temp was pleasant, as well. But that's about it. There was a significant problem with our door opening and closing properly. It would stick and appear closed, but you could push it open from the outside. We alerted the hotel about this safety issue, they said they'd get someone out the next day at 10 a.m. Ten a.m. came and went and no one fixed the problem during our entire three-night stay. Went to use the one internet computer and an employee of the hotel was using it. The front desk clerk had to ask her after I'd been waiting about 10 minutes to "be aware that others want to use the computer". One of the housekeeping staff also facilitated her friends from town into the pool area to use the jacuzzi. And watch out if you don't let housekeeping know at 9 a.m. you'd like your room serviced. They won't be back to check if you'd like your bed made or towels changed out. Nope ~ you missed your chance!!!

So, there are other choices when you go to Lake George ~ look into them. I'm glad we didn't pay more for this hotel. It's the only thing that makes me feel kinda OK about the stay.

P.S. And get this ~ they charge a "resort fee" for ~get ready~ parking and the in-room safe. Maybe if they fixed the doors to the rooms they wouldn't need safes!!!!! A "resort fee" for a motel ~ now THAT'S a good one!!!

I would say that place was very clean. The people who work there is very friendly and helpful. When my husband and I went it was busy. The pool was big and nice. The room we stayed in was a jacuzzi suite. I loved it, it was in the same room with the bed very romantic. The only down fall was the pillows, it was not fluffy at all, so bring extra pillows.
The hotel was close to the strip, you can walk behind the hotel and it is right there. I am glad I picked this hotel.

The resort was lovely eventhough there wasn't much open in the hotel itself being off-season. The resort was gorgeous and our room had the most spectacular view of the lake. We only had breakfast which was okay nothing to write home about but our waitress was great! she gave us some great tips as to where to explore. We would return there every weekend if we could. It was great to see the town in the off season. it was like we had it all to ourselves!!!

The room was very nice and had a hot tub. All of the staff was courteous and helpful, especially the wait staff for breakfast. The location of the hotel is great because it is close to everything but not right in the middle of all the shops. I would definitely recommend staying here.

My husband and I chose The Fort William Henry for our wedding and reception. As soon as we walked into the White Lion room and saw the view we knew it was the place for us. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, the chef and his staff prepared amazing items for our cocktail party and the guest rooms were lovely. Our guests could choose mountain or lake views--whatever their preference--and they had 3 room styles/price ranges to choose from. They are also centrally located, so it was easy for our guests to explore on foot all that Lake George Village has to offer.

We had no complaints from anyone. We still hear how wonderful the food was, how accommodating the staff was and what an all-around great trip it was for all of our guests.

Thanks to the entire staff at The Fort William Henry we had the perfect wedding and wouldn't want to change a thing if we were to do it all over again!
