The hotel is situated on a ridge with a bunch of other hotels in various states of construction, all right next to each other, almost like a row of townhouses. So very soon it will be wall-to-wall hotel-land along that ridge. The view is indeed panoramic and it's pleasant enough though not spectacular.
The rooms are very basic - no carpeting, no amenities. But you're in Lalibela for the historical site, not to hang out in your hotel room, right? So the spartan feel didn't bother me. The problem was that the wifi didn't work, the credit card reader didn't work at check out (Luckily I had enough cash), and my bedside lamp didn't work. When I talked to the owner about these things, he said some of the hotel's electronics had been knocked out. Maybe, but it was still a bit disappointing.
The price - $45/night - was fine, and the food in the restaurant was good. Would I recommend this hotel? Since you've come for the churches and not the hotel, I guess one night at this place will be fine.More
