The hotel and finishes are ageing but it is excellently located on the edge of town, just up the hill from the rock hewn churches of Lalibela and the market (on Saturdays). It's comfortable and clean, with decent hot water showers, a good restaurant and wifi. Nice garden for watching the bird life too.

Rates are a little on the high side for a budget hotel, but budget it certainly is.

A ver comfortable stop with hot water and power all the time. A very good base for visiting rock churches. St George is the closest but a morning's guided tour can take you to 5 or 6. The food was good and not very expensive. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and even lent me a laptop free of charge so I could access the free Wifi

Room Tip: If you are fit and able a trip from here up to Hudad for the night is the most amazing walk. Very st...

After several hotels in Ethiopia this was a pleasant surprise. Hot water all the time when you wanted it and the power did not go off once. The food was good and not too expensive and the staff were very pleasant and helpful, even lending me one of their laptops free of charge to access the free Wifi

We arrived late and exhausted so took the first best room we could find with a hot shower. As for the room, we have no complaints. It was clean and had hot water: all we were after. We slept well, although we could feel the springs of the bed.

When going there however, be sure to ask if they perhaps have a cheaper room. We paid 36 USD for a room while there are rooms that look pretty much the same (but are a little bit noisier) that seem to be cheaper.

WIFI didn't work for the time we were there. Okay, it did work, but only because my boyfriend (IT-guy) managed to fix it for the evening. The next day it was out again.

The food was great, though! It is pricey for Ethiopian terms, but still fair if you look at it European-wise. I enjoyed every meal to the fullest.

They also offered to help finding a way getting out of the city again, which saved us a walk to the bus station (we had done the walk anyway, but it was unsuccesful).

Seven olives hotel restaurant is the best restaurant so far in Lalibela. I was there for a solid week, There food is delicious through out my stay and the out side terrace is terrific. The location is very nearest to the churches. It only take a five minute walk to the curved churches. If you want to enjoy your meal, you can have what you want at seven olives hotel with friendly live service!!!

Spent one night at Seven Olives with my wife end of June, This was my second visit- spent two nights there precisely one yr ago, but couldn't manage to enter a review that time. The location is great- at the junction of the township's two main roads, and a stone throw from the Church ticket-counter.Thete's a good view over Lalibela, and a delightful grove, shading over the rooms. The restaurant (reviewed separately) has improved significantly since last year, from (mediocre to good).
The roms arec lean, quiet and in decent shape- but definitely not luxurious. Water heating worked ok on both of my visits (as in many other Ethiopian hotels one has to turn the contraption on by oneself). The staff is friendly and helpful, and set right minor problems that did emerge.

We spent one night at Seven Olives in a whirlwind trip. The location is terrific as it is a short walking distance to the churches. The outdoor terrace is wonderful and the restaurant is great. That said, the room could use some improvement. The room was uncomfortable and was fairly neglected and there was no hot water. It had been highly recommended by friends who noted that it had declined significantly since the last time they were there. A good place to have lunch but if there's a better place to sleep I would opt for it.
