“Romantic, charming, beautiful property, lovely location.... What more could you ask for in a B&B?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2012

We stayed in the Saratoga Suite in the Carriage House over labour day weekend. My partner surprised me with this mini-vacation last-minute and I was absolutely floored over by the Lamplight Inn. We have stayed at many, many B&Bs, and I definitely would put the Lamplight in that special category of "the total package".

The innkeepers take so much attention to detail in everything they do. Large selection of teas, coffees available at all times. Breakfast is a la carte plus a mini buffet of fruits and cereals. Large selection of board games in the living room of the main house. A lovely "gift shop" (basically some beautiful antique cabinets filled with all kinds of interesting trinkets). Binders with menus for all the nearby restaurants and recommendations and reviews. In the Carriage House, a fridge in the main area to cool your wine or store leftovers, snacks and drinks available on the honour system, corkscrews waiting to be used...

Our room was incredible. First, it was gigantic. A king-sized bed, a sitting area, a gas fireplace and an immense two-person jacuzzi (we also had a regular shower-tub in our bathroom... just in case two people wanted to take baths separately??). It was charming yet luxurious and very romantic. Would definitely recommend it for those celebrating a special occasion (there are ice buckets in the room (and ice in the entrance of the Carriage House!) which we really appreciated being white wine drinkers).

The property is gorgeous, and is again impeccably maintained. Very easy to walk to the river for a leisurely stroll, or to the beach area for a swim in Lake Luzerne. We drove several times to the Lake George area which, although it's a lot of fun, is filled with overpriced, grungy accommodations. The Lamplight is a fantastic alternative: you stay in a charming B&B with fabulous innkeepers and fabulous breakfast, yet you can easily access the kitsch of Lake George. Next time we visit Lake George, we will be returning to stay here.

Room Tip: Saratoga Suite if you're looking for something romantic or to celebrate a special occasion! Fire...

We have stayed at the Lamplight Inn numerous times & it's always a great stay. Wonderful Innkeepers, clean rooms, nice area. It's also not far from the town of Lk. George. The homemade, full breakfasts are wonderful. It's a very relaxing stay & I would certainly recommend the Lamplight Inn to anyone.

Room Tip: the Carriage House rooms in the back of the Inn are large with a private bath, & jaccuzzi tub &a...

After driving through a torrential rain we arrived at the Lamplight Inn and were warmly welcomed. Our host went out in the rain and showed us our suite and made sure we were settled in. Our room was in the Carriage House addition and was a large comfortable room with a king sized bed and gas fireplace in a cozy sitting area. It was a handicapped accessible room and as we have a disabled adult son we are always interested in accomodations that are accessible and charming. Too often, accessible means spartan, but not in this case. The room was decorated in Adirondack modern and was cute without being suffocating.
The Carriage House is located in back of Inn;s property and is very quiet. We appreciated the refrigerator and snack rack in the public area and the honor system and fair prices were also appreciated.
Breakfast was a true delight! The food was plentiful and delicious and graciously served rather than simple a buffet table. The dining room was light-filled and while large never felt overly open.
Again, the food was wonderful. Homemade granola, a variety of juices, even hot chocolate for me- the non coffee drinker! We had a choice of eggs or omelots the first day and french toast as well as eggs the next day. Fresh breads and great bacon- all locally sourced made for a true feast.
The Inn's common area is charming and one could settle in to read or complete a puzzle with tea and coffee and cookies.
All in all a true delight and a place we will return to. Great value also!!

Room Tip: We liked the Carriage House suite as it was large and comfortable.

The Lamplighter Inn is beautiful inn, located in a great spot (we took the North Creek - Saratoga Springs train up to North Creek to bike around on Saturday and then biked along the Hudson right from the inn on Sunday). The inn keepers and staff were very warm and inviting and were very helpful at giving directions and recommendations for places to eat and things to do. The room we stayed in (White Birch) was very clean and perfect for the weekend; the gas fireplace was so nice and welcoming after coming back from a cold bike ride, as was the jacuzzi....and the bed was very comfortable, which is always a plus. The breakfast both mornings was fantastic and there were so many options that my husband and I had a hard time deciding what to eat as we wanted to eat it all (and we are vegetarians!). Overall a wonderful experience and hope to go back again!

Room Tip: The suites in the separate building are pretty awesome, having both a jacuzzi and a fireplace.

You took advantage of our new Tourist Train to North Creek. As you told me, the train was very accommodating to you and your bikes. What a fun day that must have been for the both of you. I'm glad our breakfast got you going for the trip to North Creek, we try really hard to please all types of diets. Hope to see you again.

Beautiful B&B oozing with Upstate NY charm. The inn keepers were warm and inviting as was the entire staff. The hearty country breakfast was delicious and filling. Our room was so relaxing and the beds were very comfortable. We stayed at previous B&Bs and were not as impressed as we were with the Lamplight Inn. We had a great time exploring the area and are definitely plan a return trip soon!

I'm happy you enjoyed your stay during peak foliage. The Fall is a beautiful time of year in the Adirondacks. Would love to see you back, or have you try a different season. We are here all year.

The Lamplight Inn was so charming and welcoming. Our room - The Saratoga Room - was beautiful. The breakfast menu filled with homemade goodies couldn't have been better. Look forward to going back soon. Thumbs up all the way!

We went for a mini vacation to leaf peep and explore the area. The rooms are extremely clean, the parking is very convenient, the breakfasts are delicious and the hosts are wonderful. We couldn't have asked for more, and the jacuzzi was so nice to come back to after spending a day out in the cold fall weather. We would definitely consider coming back next year, but would go earlier since all of Lake George seems to shut down for the season after Columbus Day!

I'm so glad you had a good stay at our B&B. The Fall is beautiful in the Adirondacks and Lake George Village does get quiet, but it is always good to come back to the Jacuzzi.
