The Hotels is right off Main Street and is within walking distance to everything in town, even the olympic museum. The town is great so my wife and I had a great time. The rooms are spacious and we had more than enough room for us and our daughter. An indoor and outdoor pool depending on the weather. Games in the lobby and complimentary cookies, lemondae, and brownies were a nice touch. The canow and paddle boast were complimentary and great fun. Would definately stay again.

The High Peaks resort is located directly in downtown Lake Placid. You can't beat the location. Free off-street parking, there's a bar and restaurant right there, and the room is beautiful. If you can plan ahead, you can find a great deal on this hotel. We went after Columbus Day and paid in advance. It ended up costing as little as some of the "cheap" hotels and it is much nicer.
All of the rooms have balconies and they don't really have bad views. We had a little bit of a view of the roof but beyond that the autumn mountains could be seen clearly. The beds were large and comfortable and the room had a large flat screen TV and desk. My favorite part was the bathroom. The sliding door was etched glass and the sink and shower fixtures were top of the line. The bathroom amenities smelled great. There is even a speaker for the TV in the bathroom so you can listen to it!
The front desk put out coffee in the morning, and hot cocoa and cookies in the evening. There are multiple entrances to get into the hotel, including from the parking garage so you can still park close to your room. They're locked at night with room key access only. We definitely plan to stay here again in the future. It was perfect.

Perfect Location! In walking distance to town, boutiques and restaurants. Excellent and friendly staff. We stayed in the main building on the 5th floor with a great view of the mountains and Mirror Lake. We were on the 5th floor which is the best, although I hear 3rd and 4th floors are just a nice. Just be sure you ask for a room that faces the lake. We stayed in 501 and that was right next to the elevator which was quite loud at times. The rooms could use some updating, but the bed was very comfy and everything the room had to offer was enough. Dancing Bears was a very happening and fun place -- nice bartenders and wait staff too. Drinks were great. We just had appetizers one night and breakfast both days, and no complaints at all. the lobby area and its surrounds were very nice and clean. Very cozy fireplace in main lobby area was nice. It would have been really nice to have a fireplace in our room. I will definitely return and recommend this to my friends. Enjoy!

Our experience included snow, great shopping, good food, beautiful friends, fantastic view, clean linen and hot spa-like shower. Unfortunately the unit on the fourth floor was not sound proofed: we shared the distress of a frantic child in the room to our right, the snore of a guest in the room to our left and were awaken at 8:00 Friday morning to the sound of construction/repairs in the unit directly below our room. Um-m-m! Go with the flow was never so realistic. Spent a couple days visiting our son at Paul Smiths College and had the chance to stay at the High Peaks Resort. This was a trip down Memory Lane for me as I had worked here in 1980 when the hotel first opened as the Lake Placid Hilton. I also remember crashing the abc party here during the 1980 Winter Olympics. Those days are long gone, and so is the old Hilton. The newly renovated High Peaks Resort is very nice. We ate outside at the Dancing Bear and enjoyed a beautiful Autumn day. Service and food very good. Guest rooms are surprisingly large by today's standards, and nicely appointed. Public space is handsome and fits the Adirondack setting. If you're not looking for a small inn, High Peaks is an excellent full service alternative.

My wife and I stayed here for the 2013 NYSUT Leadership Conference, an intensive 3 day event filled with training, high profile guests, and networking. We have attended this conference in the past when it was hosted here (and at other venues). In the past, the accommodations have been terrific (and the food even more so). This year, they were terrible.

Even though we registered very early (4 months out), we were put in the Lakeside Motel building instead of the main building where we normally stay. The rooms were horrible - we wiped black mold off the wall and were grossed out by the soap scum on the tub. There is a pervasive odor of chlorine and mold throughout. Some of our members complained and were told that 'renovations will be done next year' and that we could complain using 'trip advisor' - the managers had no desire to speak with us. Those who continued to complain were moved to slightly better rooms.

The food was lacking as well. The lunch on Saturday was quickly cooked hamburgers and hotdogs and hotel staff stood closely by regulate the lines, choosing to shut a line done early to 'save food' and start cleanup early. The same staff hurried members out of the hall after dinner to start their setup for the next morning early. The food in general was bland and unappealing. Breakfast consisted of oatmeal (mush), powdered eggs, and bacon. For the price paid for the stay, the food and rooms were woefully overvalued.

The annual conference is always a high point ion the year and when Lake Placid hosts it, it is usually something to look for even more. This trip was ruined by lousy rooms and poor food. My wife and I will not be staying at the High Peaks again for pleasure or for business and if NYSUT has the conference there again, we will give it a miss.

Stayed on the 4th floor in the main hotel. The bed was comfortable, nice to have a balcony, great view and a mini fridge. The sliding bathroom door was odd as it blocked the closet door and it had 1/2 frosted glass on the lower portion with the upper section being clear glass...could be a privacy issue if sharing the room with more people. The shower also had mold around the door. These were minor issues for us as the room was updated, spacious and comfortable. The lobby was beautiful with a wood burning fireplace (smelled great) and comfortable seating. We tried the hot tub, was just warm, not hot. Also went kayaking on Mirror Lake using the free kayaks during early October. The outdoor lakeside pool was still open and we enjoyed an afternoon relaxing there. Staff were very nice and tried to help with anything we needed. Would definitely recommend and we will be back!
