We stayed on the fourth floor facing mirror lake. The view of the lake was a plus. Room had nice styling with wood floors in the entry and bathroom. The shower was a walk-in grotto effect with an overhead rain shower as well as a hand-held shower. Shower also have a tile/teak seat. Room also had a fridge for keeping that champagne cold. Every room has a balcony with charis and table - nice to sit and watch the lake. Beds were very comfortable. Staff friendly and accommodating. We generally eat and drink off-property, but stopped by "Dancing Bears" bar and were pleasanly surprised with a good crowd and good pours. Place to try for breakfast: DO GO to the Downton Diner (a short drive, a doable but long walk.) Prices cant be beat, superior portions and if you really want a treat try their homemade corned beef hash... I know, not exactly the healthy thing, but it really was outstanding.

Having stayed in Lake Placid now for nearly ten years, we have enjoyed both the Crowne Plaza and High Peaks Resort. I would say they are comparable but each one has its own features. High Peaks was a very pleasant experience and right on the Main street with a good view of the lake and surrounding mountains. We enjoyed hours relaxing on the balcony and watching the ducks in the pool and feeling the pulse of the town. Walked just a few feet to dinner each night to our favorite restaurants (Jimmy's 21 and Pete's) but all are really nearby. Breakfast in the Dancing Bear was good except the home fries that were served were quite stale and cold. Room service is good.

We stayed with my 2 young and my parents. This hotel has so many nice features. It is recently redone, so the rooms are pretty and clean, although on the small side. There is so much to do at the hotel and within walking distance we never felt confined at all. The bathrooms are fantastic!

They have a bar in the lobby with board games, fun for the whole family. And the casual restaurant, the dancing bear has something for everyone. The location is AMAZING! In the heart of the olympic village. About a 15-20 minute drive to Whiteface, well worth the drive if you want to ski. My kids loved their ski instructor. His name is Tim and he worked wonders with my 4 year old and 2 year old.

If you have never been to Lake Placid it is a true gem. You ahould make the trip and I would recommend this hotel. We will be returning.

This is a very nice hotel right on the main street in Lake Placid. We enjoyed the convenience of being able to walk to shops, restaurants, around Mirror Lake and easy hiking. We wanted a king room but ended up with 2 queens which were very comfortable, but made the space too crowded. Bathroom is poorly designed with only one small hook to hang up all the towels(!) so it was difficult to be environmentally friendly like they request. This was a bit of a splurge trip because we had celebrated our 25th wedding anniverasary in June. Typically we wouldn't spend this much on a place just to sleep. The food in the Dancing Bears restraurant was excellent especially the clam chowder. Lori in the small lobby bar is delightful and the atmosphere there is fun.

Very clean and well kept rooms and faciilites. The room was comfortable with a great view of Mirror Lake. Shower and bathroom were nice touches. Lots of wood throughout and the open fireplace in the lobby add warmth and comfort during the autumn season.

Disappointment that the hotel restaurant was closed for the season the day we arrive. Also service not completely accommodating considering bed choice with an empty hotel.

Overall nice accommodations with great location in Lake Placid.

We traveled to Lake Placid for an end of summer getaway over Labor Day Weekend and stayed at the High Peaks Resort. The hotel was recently remodeled and it is beautiful. Our room had a breathtaking view of the lake and mountains. The room was very spacious with a king size bed, large couch, balcony and spa-like bathroom. I had a massage at the spa that was the best massage I have ever had. The outdoor patio was a highlight, with a beautiful sunny location and great view. Another highlight of the hotel was the lobby bar with fireplace. One night we sat on the couch ordered drinks, dinner and played games while sitting by the cozy fire. Great place for a relaxing couples getaway.
