“Great and reasonable place to stay”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

We really recommend “Wildwood on the Lake” as a great place to stay in Lake Placid. The cost is very reasonable and it is a much nicer place to stay than the standard chain hotels or more expensive options. The rooms and surroundings are very clean, the canoes are free and they make a nice fire outside every evening. There is an indoor swimming pool and the Internet is free. The location is within walking distance to Main Street for dining or shopping. The owners are very familiar with the area and can give you lots of valuable suggestions regarding what to do or where to dine in the area.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for IMLP 2014. We stayed for one week, and overall it was a very nice stay. The property was lovely and we were very excited to be right on Paradox Bay, which is connected to Lake Placid. Super easy paddling to the lake, which has magnificent views. We stayed in a cabin, which had a kitchen, living room, and two bedrooms -- each with their own restrooms! What a nice little surprise as we were expecting only one restroom for some reason. When friends of ours joined us for the weekend, they had their own space which was appreciated by everyone.

Management and housekeeping were nice -- We particularly enjoyed the man with the British accent. I wish I had the opportunity to speak with him more, as I was under the impression he was an owner of the property. Perhaps the next time we stay here we will. They called every morning to check to see if we wanted housekeeping. This was a nice touch as we are not messy people so housekeeping wasn't necessary on any of the days (in our opinion). We did at certain times feel pressured to have the cleaning staff come in.

Overall a nice property, well kept. Would recommend this place.

We had lake side room and view of mts! Gazebo overlooking lake perfect spot for first cup of coffee or last glass of wine. Kayaks were provided. Pool, hot tub, sauna too. Not far from center of town but quiet at night. Staff helpful and friendly! Will go back for 3rd time soon

We stayed in a lakeside room, very quiet and great views of the lake, the mountains, and the sunrise. Kayaks and canoes available no charge. Have stayed here twice now and would not hesitate to go back.

An excellent place to stay in.. The lake nearby will give a beautiful and calm environment which will make us to feel relaxed and happy. The boat ride which they offer is a must try one.. Waters are not so deep and its safe for kids as well. A must place to visit along with this hotel.
they offer decent continental breakfast and rooms are neat and tidy. Amenities in the room were good. the indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi is good and neat.
Worth for the money that we paid, and will definitely look forward for our future stay too!!!

We spent one night before camping to marcy dam and it was really nice. Away from the crowd and the urban touristic atmosphere of lake placid (which is few miles away), really quiet, we had a beautiful view on the lake with a small balcony, friendly and zen atmosphere. You have access to multiple activities if you want to, kayak, sauna, swimming pool... The room was really clean, the bed perfect, the surrounding is quite nice, particularly the sourdough store right in front with fresh bread and amazing breakfast and sandwiches!. We also went for dinner to an Italian restaurant across the street with few tables outside and really good food. Overall, we had a really good experience and we recommend the place (and the sourdough bakery!)

Room Tip: Choose a lake view room

We stayed here on a Sunday in June and this was an amazing place to stay. I booked a suite with a fire place and Jacuzzi that overlooked Lake Placid. The room had a kitchenette also. We could have stayed here a month it was so comfortable. The place is run by a hands on family that tries to make your stay as comfortable as possible and do they succeed. There are 2 pools, an outdoor lake fed pool and an indoor heated one. There is a large hot tub and saunas also. They have rowboats, canoes and kayaks for use included at no cost. It sits right on lake Placid in a small harbor. it is close to food stores and downtown with its large collection of sights and shops. For a romantic stay, you couldn't find a better place.

Room Tip: room 124 is a romantic suite
