We have just returned from our bi-annual vacation at the Wildwood. My husband and I have stayed at this perfect home-away-from-home at least twice a year for the past 8 years. They have two pools; we prefer the lake water pool. It is a great place for families and for couples. The location is perfect - right on Lake Placid, with stunning views. There is plenty to do: canoes, rowboats, paddleboats, etc. Cottage 9 is our favorite, but we also like cottage 18 and have found all of the other rooms to be comfortable and perfect for a week-long stay. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and the hot tubs are glorious after a cold day in the mountains! The fact that we keep returning says it all.

I just got back from spending 4 days at the Wildwood on the Lake and have a few things to say. First let me say, our cottage (#18) was adorable and we loved the fireplace and hot tub, but they were doing construction on the grounds and there was no hot tub, pool or sauna--which after a long day of skiing would have been nice and we were REALLY looking forward to it. They didn't even apologize and we paid alot of money for the cottage. We picked that hotel for the fact that it had those amenities both in the room and on the grounds. The hot tub in the room was nice, but it was entirely too short and my boyfriend barely fit in the tub. We did not find the staff as helpful as we would have liked. It was however in an excellent location --check out the jackrabbit trail right down the block behind the HOJO's! Also, for some yummy bread and hearty home cooking try the little sourdough bread deli across the street. I would stay there again if the price was cheaper for what I got.

Management response:Responded 13 October 2005

Please let me clear a few things up. First You booked cottage 18 and the rates range from 148 to 178 per night a very reasonable rate. Ammenities included King bed. 40 gallon whirlpool tub or two person and fireplace. At the time of your stay we did not have an indoor pool because it was just being built/ enclosed and It was not advertised until this Sept 2005. In reality there was no building activity as the owner/ builder was not in town at that time. So really you can't be upset about something we did not advertise.

We have stayed here twice during January. We have stayed in their kitchette #2 which has 2 bedroom and 2 baths, small kitchen and sitting room. It is a comfortable and convient place to stay at a reasonable price. The people who work their are helpful and friendly. We especially love the hot tub for muscles sore from skiing!
