“Nice and convenient but Old”
Reviewed 15 August 2010

We stayed for 3 nights in the motel with our teenage daughter. The motel is convenient and is walking distance to shops and restaurants on Main Street, etc. The grounds were well maintained and the views were beautiful. The website leads you to believe that your lakeside view is a full view. Although there are some rooms that face the lake/mountains there are also many located along the side of the motel with only a partial view. That is the room we got. Every room has a balcony. Rooms are spacious and clean but old. The beds were full size and too small for us to be comfortable. The bathroom was clean but the toilet had a old style tank and every time you used it during the middle of the night you had to listen to how loud it was until the tank refilled. That was annoying!! Free use of paddle boats, canoes, etc. was a plus. and I suppose that is what you are paying for, Overall, we would not stay at this hotel again because the rooms were old and outdated and uncomfortable. You are really paying for the location and views but there are many motels in the area that offer the same views. We will be trying one of those next time.

This is one of the best family run motels we have been to in years.
Great location for visiting Lake Placid as well as the surrounding ADK area.
Rooms are clean, staff is friendly. Much cozier than staying in a cookie cutter chain motel.

The GF and I got a room in the poolside thinking it's by the pool, but the pool, whirlpool and sauna was actually downstairs on its own floor. The room was clean! The pool, suana was clean too!! (there wasn't many tourists yet when we stayed). The room/inn does feel older, but it wasn't tacky. The amenities should have been decorated with brighter colors so it wouldn't look as old even though it isn't.
Overall, I place this on my Top 5 list!

I'm going back again next week, hopefully they have kept the standards!

We went to Lake Placid to attend Skate America. Our three day stay was enhanced by staying at Wildwood on the Lake. The motel was close enough to walk to the Olympic Center and village shopping/dining: half mile to village, one mile to skating rink. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. A small refrigerator and microwave in the room was convenient. But best of all was the great view of the lake and mountains from our room. My wife enjoyed looking at the ducks swim by as she sat outside on our small porch. The indoor pool was relaxing after sitting in stadium seats for hours. It was one of the best places we have stayed.

With a great location right on Lake Placid and a pool fed by lake water (complete with tiny fish), this hotel is great for a family. In addition to the lake and outdoor pool is an indoor pool, sauna, and whirlpool as well as grills for anyone's use. Free boat rental, cottages, and kitchenettes meet anyone's needs.

Great place... We usually stay in cabin #8... Rustic log cabin feel... 2 bedroom, one with a queen bed, the other with a full bed & bunkbed set. Good sized bathroom, tub, toilet, sink plus another sink area outside of the bathroom. Eat in, fully equipped kitchen, livingroom with comfy sofa & chairs, tv, fireplace (burning logs) lots of windows with beautiful views... The cabins can be a bit pricey, but if you are sharing with friends, it is a real good deal... The staff, could be a little more friendlier, but you only have to deal with them a couple of times, so it's not that bad. Close to the village, shopping centers & restaurants.
