“Nice easy trails”
Reviewed 16 July 2013

These complex of trails are nice and easy, and offer great views of Lake Placid. There is also plenty of makers along the way that describe the flora and the wetlands.

This area had recently been hit with a lot of rain, so many spots of the trails are muddy. That, of course, did not bother the two dogs we brought a long for the hike and swim in the lake. They, of course, complained about the bath later. It is also summer, so there are bugs. The trails, though well groomed and marked, are in a real forest with water and bugs. They have not been carved out by Walt Disney.

“Gentle Hike for People and Pooches”
Reviewed 5 July 2013

Back in May, we were the only ones on this trail, so we let our dog off the leash and she went swimming for a bit. The path is soft from all the pine needles. At the time, there were some trees down so we climbed under and over them, which was fun. If it weren't for that, the hike would be super gentle. There are no inclines and you're along the lake almost the entire time. Very nice views.

“Easy walk along Lake Placid”
Reviewed 15 June 2013

We did this and the Jackrabbit. This trail had a lot of blow downs and was tough to navigate. Hopefully they will clean the trail up some.

“Easy snow shoeing and hiking”
Reviewed 21 February 2013

What a great space! When other areas did not have snow, Brewster Peninsula did! While the trails may not be suitable for members of the 46'ers club, it is a great area to snow shoe, cross country ski and hike, while gaining a moderate amount of exercise. Not many hills...love it!

Here is a hint: as you enter the nature area, take the first left, first right and then a left at the crossing over Lake Placid. After stopping a moment to take in the gorgeous views, bare left to access the Whiteface Club and Resort (http://www.whitefaceclubresort.com/) trails. You are allowed to visit, free!! My husband and went snow shoeing on their property during the first weekend of February. While there, we used their restrooms and had a quick bite to eat in the tavern. Outstanding!
