“Never Staying in a Hotel Again!!”
Reviewed 15 October 2012

We were so happy to discover The Haus when planning our most recent trip to Lake Placid. Normally we stay at the Crowne Plaza, which is nice but you cannot escape the hotel feel, even in their newer wing, plus the hike up & down the hill can be exhausting. The Haus is certainly NOT a hotel. It doesn't feel or look like one either. We felt like we had our own apartment right on the main street. We loved it! Our apartment over looked Mirror Lake and had a wonderful view of the mountains too. It was very nicely done & decorated and immediately felt like home. Anthony was a great host and was very helpful when we arrived. Staying at The Haus also gave us a 10% off discount at a few area shops & restaurants, which was great because we fell in love with Jimmy 21's too! We loved being on the main strip and walked everywhere, except when we drove out of town to hike. After this experience I don't know if I will ever be able to stay in a normal hotel again, where everything is so commercial! I love this place and I'm already thinking about our next visit!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the water provide a great view but I think even facing the village could be fun here, y...

This was our second stay at The Haus. Both times we have had rooms facing the lake, which really makes for a special experience. The balconies are great for lounging and enjoying the memorable view. The rooms are super clean, comfortable and well furnished. They have floor to ceiling windows and the decor is quite sophisticated. The kitchens are well-equipped and we have been able to cook meals and stay in to enjoy the accommodations. The location right on Main Street is also so convenient for walking to a nearby restaurant. We were a little concerned about the parking situation but we never had a problem finding a spot close-by. Anthony is super helpful at check-in and pitches-in to grab a bag and escort you to the room. He is also affable and very welcoming, great qualities for an inn-keeper. We will be returning soon.

Room Tip: Definitely go for a room facing Mirror Lake.

We were a little concerned to discover that this building is in the middle of a bustling town on a very busy road; I booked the room because of the great reviews and didn't check out the location very carefully. However, our suite was in the rear of the building and we heard very little road noise. The view of Mirror Lake is breathtaking, and the apartment had an open floor plan with high ceilings, perfect for kicking back and relaxing. The room comes with a parking permit for the municipal lot across the street. This is the "city" experience of the Adirondacks and you can even walk all the way around the lake on a sidewalk.

Room Tip: We stayed in Apartment 4. Only one flight of stairs!

This place has it all...
-Beautifully fully furnished appartment on main steet in the center of town
-Large balcony directly facing mirror lake and the great range with mount Marcy dominating
-A great host who is very accomodating makes you feel very welcomed
We stayed in unit 4 which was especially fun because it is a corner unit with windows everywhere and from the balcony you can people watch passers by on main street on one side, and then turn around and enjoy the serenity of the lake and mountains on the other.
My husband and I travel quite a bit and the Haus is was way up there as one of our most memorable stays !

We loved our stay at the start of August in Suite 8. This is without a doubt, the BEST view in Lake Placid. Serene enough to enjoy the true, early morning, mirror-like qualities of Mirror Lake and active enough to watch the day and city unfold as the kayaks hit the lake and people hit the streets. This suite faces the lake but is also on the corner so you can view the park. It felt very private and was surprisingly quiet for being right downtown. The suite was comfortable enough for our family of four. The kitchen had everything we needed. Anthony, the owner was super-helpful. The place was very clean and nicely decorated. Although the weather was quite warm, the balcony doors opened up to a wonderful breeze and we were surprised by the lack of insects! We kept the doors and windows open and it was fine. There is an air conditioner in the bedroom which we did need. We have found over the years that many rentals in Lake Placid do not have central air but it was nice to have cool air for the bedroom. Overall we loved it. We have spent the summer in various hotels and it was nice to have a place like this where we did not feel boxed in. We will try to book this again next year!

My fiancé and I recently stayed at The Haus. We were able to reserve
Unit 10, new rental located right on the water of Mirror Lake. This
room was huge with a BEAUTIFUL kitchen and dining room. The dining
room had two sliding doors that opened up to the patio, which is
relatively large with furniture and a beautiful garden. There is also
a fence put up separating the patio from a small park located right
next door, so we still had our privacy. Our 2 friends stayed in the
room upstairs, which had a queen size bed and their own private
bathroom, while my fiancé and I shared the master bedroom. There is a
spiral staircase that leads to the room upstairs, which was very cool
:) The master bedroom had 2 big windows that looks out on Mirror Lake
and it was a very nice and relaxing feeling to wake up and go to bed
looking at the lake. There is also a very large bathroom down stairs
with a HUGE jacuzzi tub. We also had our own washer and dryer in the
bathroom to do our laundry, which came in very handy since we stayed
for 4 days in a row. The kitchen had concrete counter tops and
everything we needed for cooking in. Plenty of cutlery and dishes.
There is also a dishwasher and we were provided with our own dish
detergent, but not laundry detergent. Overall, our stay was
magnificent. We all enjoyed our stay at The Haus, (great value), and
the owner and housekeeping were very polite and competent.

Had a lovely stay at The Haus. The owners were wonderful and the accommodations were beyond my expectations. Comfort and class. Very clean. Great kitchen, huge apartment space. Open spaces, sleek design. Can't beat the great central location on Main Street, Lake Placid. Loved their information book for fun suggestions on what to do in the area when visiting. Owners went above and beyond making me feel at home. Will definitely come back.
