“Nice family Hike !!”

Family of 6 with the youngest being 9.
We took the long trail up (1.5 hours) and the long trail down and added the rock garden trail that brings you by Heart Lake (1.0 hours).
A very nice family experience. Only about a 15 minute drive form Lake Placid.
Although I hear it is less challenging than the short trail up it still does get the blood pumping and has some tricky spots that require safe maneuvers.
The information center sells inexpensive back packs drinks and snacks for the hike.

Great hike, even with young children (between 5 and 10). Moderate at times, for the most part easy. Nice views from the top. Parking can fill on the high season weekends. 10$ per car.

Nice hike. Short but sweet in the sense that, because its steep you get a good workout. Nice views at top.

Quick but challenging hike with great views. Steep at times but not too bad. we took the short route up which is steeper but came down the long route. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Hiking Mount Jo lets start with it is $10.00 to park it took my husband and I about the same amount of time to hike up the short trail and down the longer route 1 hour and 5 mins. We are novice hikers we stopped 4-5 times on the hike up and several times on the way down. I would suggest hiking the short trail on the way up as there are a lot of rocks to get over and around. I have long legs and it would be more difficult if you shorter I think plus going down the rocks would be a challenge either way. The long trail going down has a lot of roots and a bit of rock. Before you get to the main part of the hike up there is a display on plant life and a few other items with a guide to explain things. We spent about 1 hr on the top the views are breath taking and we had a very clear day so we could see a good distance. There was a young lady employed by the local climbers ADR? who explained the different mountain peaks. Well worth the hike.
