We hiked a few days ago on a beautiful day with my five year old daughter. She loves any kind of climbing and scrambling so we took the short trail up and long trail down. She loved it - we all did. The views were fantastic, although we didn't linger for too long as the no-see-ums were out in full force on the summit.

On the way down, we stopped in at the terrific little nature center near the start of the trail.

We had read some of the reviews that said that Mount Jo was a short and easy hike. We had 3 20-somethings, and 2 50-somethings in our group and all of us thought it was a struggle. There were so many rocks and muddy sections obstructing the trail and it took us about an hour and a half each way. You forget about your cuts and scrapes when you see that GORGEOUS view but you remember again as you make the trek down and try not to smash your face on a rock. I definitely would not recommend this to a beginner but for more experienced hikers its an unbeatable view.

We did this hike with our children when they were 6 and 8 and they loved it. The views at the top made their hard work seem so worth it!!! Easy to follow trail and spectacular payoff at the summit.

We enjoyed this hike. We took the short trail up to the summit. This was a little more challenging than I expected. There are a lot more rocks on the short trail. The view at the top is spectacular and a great place to take pictures. The ADK guide at the summit was very friendly and happy to answer questions. We took the longer trail down. The long trail is the way to down given that there are less rocks to climb. This was definitely worth doing. Parking can be a bit challenging because the lots tend to fill-up.
