“wonderful restaurant”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

We had an great lunch at Pan Dolce. The cup of soup and half sandwich was so good that I hated to leave any but, it was more than I could eat. Great service, spotlessly clean dining area and restrooms. Best of all, the food was excellent!

“Nice place, but adult menu was overpriced”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

We found Pan Dolce through Trip Advisor prior to coming to Lake Placid. We did not peruse the menu prior to going, however. Upon arrival for dinner we entered the restaurant and it was freezing inside so we requested we be seated on the patio which the host did. It looked to be a nicely decorated restaurant - all the staff had greeted us as we waited inside, including the musician. The Patio was nicely decorated with plants and umbrellas. The server was very pleasant. The menu was very expensive for what was offered, we found. As well, they brought out what looked to be the world's smallest amount of bread for four people - I wanted to request the regular size loaf, not the sample size. The bread was good with dipping oils, but two loaves for four people would have been better - it just looked stingy. Especially in a good Italian restaurant. The three adults ordered the salads all ranged between $13 to $15 and were basically lots of lettuce with a few of the choicer items added (four sliced tomatoes, four slices of mozzarella and some walnuts for example). Not worth $15 we felt. The children's menu was fairly priced, our son ordered the mini burgers and enjoyed them very much - they came with fries. The entrees themselves were extremely pricey (high 20's to low 30's). As we didn't order them so we cannot comment.

Dear Erin H,
Thank you for being our guest at Pan Dolce and I appreciate that you mentioned the many positives about your experience; nicely decorated restaurant, pleasant sever, staff, musician and a comfortable patio with plants and umbrellas.
We pride ourselves on providing a quality experience for all of our guests and I am very sorry you felt Chef’s made to order offerings were overpriced.
The local farms we work with are small family run farms and the evening you dined we were using organic vegetables, Field Greens and Romaine. As with all the vegetables from this farm, they are organically soil grown and have up to 3 times the nutrient content of hydroponically grown produce. The flavor and freshness is far better than what you would find in most other restaurants. The Farmer’s Cheese that topped the salad was from a certified organic cheese farm in Vermont and was delivered fresh that morning. The house made dressings and vinaigrettes served over the greens was created to compliment the organic Romaine and not mask the delicate flavor of the lettuce.
We have a very strict policy regarding All of our delivered daily, Meats, Poultry and Fish as well, and feel the prices and very small mark-up is balanced nicely with the quality of each offering. I am sorry the prices prohibited you from trying any of them, and I thank you for taking the time to share your insights and feedback.
I am at your disposal if there is anything at all I can be of assistance with and we hope to earn the chance to welcome you back to Pan Dolce in the near future.
Sincerely,
Keith

“Great meal!”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

We were pleasantly suprised by the delicious meal and excellent service we received on our last dinner night out in Lake Placid. We had attempted to go to other locations, but were disappointed by the atmosphere. We came across Pan Dolce and were glad we did! Great caesar salad, delicious pastas and specials, and amazing slider style burgers for the little one.

“An Alright Dinner”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

We tried this place while in Lake Placid. It appeared to be quite popular the evening we came as our table was the only one available. Tried the onion soup, which tasted like out of a can rather than restaurant made and I'm hoping I am wrong. Also tried the sweet sausage and rigatoni which was alright but with the "touch" of honey, way too sweet. So it was alright and for a somewhat less expensive meal it was fine.

“Not worth the wait!”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

Unfortunately, our dinner was not worth the wait. It was not a good sign when I heard the server tell the couple at the table next to us that "the kitchen is overwhelmed tonight." Although our salads were served without much delay, we waited almost an hour for our entrees to be served. It took so long that the server forgot who ordered which entree. To his credit, he remembered the tabasco sauce and hot pepper. However, I don't think that there are too many requests for tabasco and hot pepper to spice up calamari and shrimp. The seared tuna was anything but seared. It was so overcooked and dry. If it was not for the seasoning on the tuna, it would not have been edible. Given the long wait and the disappointing entree, it was not worth the price.

When we were leaving, we saw one of the cooks hanging out back of the restaurant. Perhaps, the "kitchen would not have been so overwhelmed" if the cook was in the kitchen.
