I know Champ lives in Lake Champlain but if she was to take a short trip to Lake Placid and visit her kin in Lake Mirror, she would love the Hampton Inn. Even if you are not a sea monster I'm sure you will love it too. Top Ranking across the board, Staff, Property, Location (just off the beaten path enough). Right next to a cozy restaurant and the rest of downtown.

Room Tip: Hey it's the Adirondacks so you probably won't' have a bad view.

Thank you for your review! We spoke with Champ’s cousin, Maurice, and he thought maybe you could throw Champ in the back of the pickup truck and bring her over for a family reunion! Our staff loved your review and we are glad you had such a wonderful time. The success of our hotel really has been the result of our top notch service, a prime location, and good natured guests like yourself. Our Hampton strives to appease all of our guests, sea monsters included!

Our family picked Lake Placid and this hotel for a weekend getaway to celebrate our parents' 50th wedding anniversary. The location is great, overlooking lake and SHORT walk across path to village center. We loved the Adirondack lodge architecture and decor of the lobby and great room and found this property better than most other Hampton Inns. By far the best thing about our stay was the service we received from the staff. All eight adults agreed that they were very helpful and friendly - and we needed lots of help to coordinate activities, from churches to restaurants to visiting Olympic venues. A HUGE thanks to all the front desk folks for helping make our parents' weekend so memorable. In fact we found that all of the staff - housekeeping, etc. - we pleasant and courteous and quick to help. The only two things that aren't perfect about the hotel are the eggs - but food was good enough and PLENTY of choices, including fresh waffles - and the noise of the heating system. I like a background hum of an air conditioner - helps me go to sleep - but I could see how others would not. There was a combined sound of the system itself with a constant whoosh of air being sucked from one place and blown to another. Again, not a big deal to me. But who goes to Lake Placid to sit in their hotel room? If you're going to Lake Placid, you should be spending little time in the hotel and lots of time outside on adventures, and if you do it right, you'll be so tired when you get back that you'll have no problems getting back to immaculately clean room, and very comfortable, clean beds.

Room Tip: One side of hotel has rooms with lake view, but the whole town and region is filled with views every...

My daughters treated my wife and I to a weekend at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Lake Placid through a Living Social purchase that included a bottle of wine and dinner at the Boat House just down the road. Hotel is in a great location on the south end of Mirror Lake. Luckily our room was room #228 lake view on the 2nd floor. The hotel was within walking distance of the Olympic Ice Skating center and was next to the
Check in was quick and friendly, though it was difficulty for the person to also take calls while trying to check in guests at the same time. There should have been more than one person manning the desk.
Apparently the hotel was not able to directly provide the wine so they provided a $10 voucher to Terry Robards’ Wines & Spirits at 2047 Saranac Avenue. While not near the hotel we were surprised to find they offer a free wine tasting which helped in selecting. Not the biggest wine shop but a very good selection.
A provided $50 dinner voucher for the Boat House Restaurant a short distance up Mirror Lake Drive, covered most entrees priced from $14-$35. We had the scallops au gratin and the pepper steak, both delicious. While he had no complaints with the food I thought the lighting level was way too bright, almost giving it a banquet room feeling. And using actual candle light instead of battery operated ones could help. We also couldn't help noticing every picture was hung crooked.
Now I made note that we were in room #228 because of all of the postings on poor heating regulation which our room also had figuring that maybe everyone had stayed in the same room. But our daughters had the same complaints in their rooms too. There was a constant hum and eventually It became so loud that I had to turn the unit off. Unfortunately someone forgot to install a weatherstrip below the door to the balcony and the 1/4" space below to door cooled the room quickly and allowed snow to build up inside of the door. So he had to turn the heating system back on keeping us up until morning.
The Hampton Inns offer a free breakfast and the only complaints were the scrambled eggs as other postings noted. They were dry and unappealing and the choice of sliced smoked keilbasa sausage was a unusual accompaniment for breakfast. But there were enough other choices that no one left hungry.
Since the hotel has only opened since July I know that there will be many item they need to iron out, Management and the Corporate Execs who made the decisions to install what seems to be inferior heating systems in a brand new hotel need to be made aware that it doesn't matter how nice the hotel looks, people won't return if they cant sleep in your rooms.
I'd be willing to give the hotel another try in the future but you can bet that I'll be scanning reviews for recurring problems before I do.

We loved this little city, great venue for Olympics fanatics. this hotel is good but our stay collided with a hockey tournament. Apparently they happen several times in the winter season. So ask for a room that is far from the teams reservations. The pool was inaccessible because too crowdy which was a big deception for our kids. the rooms are clean and comfortable though. And the location is great, all restaurants are close by walk.

We had a lovely weekend getaway at the Lake Placid Hampton Inn. This hotel met all my expectations and more! The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The location was within walking distance of activities we had planned and the staff was very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know, who will be visiting Lake Placid! Extremely pleased with the value of my stay.

Spent two nights here on business. Had a lake front balcony room. Nice clean room. Staff very helpful. Only complaint was wake up call did not work either night, but front desk was eager to take care of me. Hope to come back again...for pleasure this time.

Great location on Mirror Lake. Good restaurants within walking distance. Can walk around Mirror Lake from hotel. Good breakfast buffet. No bar or restaurant on property. Problem with heating system with keeping consistent room temperature and loudness of heating fan.
