“Unqualified raves for the Whiteface Lodge.”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

Just spent 2 midweek nights in a 1 bedroom suite. Cannot describe the comfort and luxury offered at this property! Staff:knowledgable, available and friendly. Room: spacious, comfortable, every need considered, and of course impeccably clean. The public spaces were inviting and cozy. The Kanu has a fabulous menu and wine selection. Convenient to shopping and dining in Lake Placid. If you are considering a trip to the area, the Whiteface is a do not miss.

Room Tip: The suites are so comfortable and have good views.

We stayed at the Whiteface Lodge for 3 nights in late Sept/early October. Everything about the hotel was wonderful. From the decor, to the service, to the nightly cookies in our room we loved it! The breakfast every morning was a nice touch and we definitely took part in the "s'mores" by the campfire every night. If you are looking for a nice place to stay in Lake Placid and are willing to spend a little money this is a perfect place for both adults and families. There is something here for everyone!

My family went up to Lake Placid for the last 10 days of August and stayed at The Whiteface Lodge. The town was spectacular and weather was great. So much clean family fun.

The Whiteface Lodge was more than we could have hoped for. It was made for a family vacation. The activities and facilities are all so appropriate and family friendly. The theatre had age appropriate movies, the lake front had kayaks and canoes, the indoor / outdoor pool was too cool and sitting in the hot tub over looking the mountains after a day of hiking was simply the best.

Our service experience was splendid. The staff was like a Ritz Carlton. They made an effort to speak to you by name and there was no request that they would not go the full length for you on. Whether you are asking a valet for some help, the room cleaning crew, the employee walking by or the late night desk manager - we felt like VIP's the entire time.

Absolutely going back!

Room Tip: Rooms are so quite - you would think the walls are 2' thick.

Every time we visit my parents we end up here for lunch. We have been to the Yosemite and Grand Canyon lodges, and Whiteface Lodge reminds me of them. Reminiscent of the old Adirondack Camps. The decorating of the restaurant and lodge is impeccable. Take time and have a drink by the fireplace before lunch.
The menu is large. Hamburgers, crab cakes are great. If you are in the area, this restaurant is worth a visit.

We just spent 2 nights at the Whiteface Lodge. It is an incredible log cabin type luxury hotel. All the staff were very friendly and said hello ever time you walked by. The breakfast was delicious with lots of options that varied the 2 mornings we were there. We spent time in the large hot tubs and swam in the heated pool. Our room on the 3rd floor had a large balcony and the unit had lots of windows and lots of lights. The bathroom was well equipped, good quality soaps, and a washer/dryer too. Nice kitchens with granite and good quality appliances.

We just returned from a one night anniversary stay at this nice property in Lake Placid. Having stayed here several times over the last 5 years, our impressions haven't changed too much. It's still a welcoming place to stay, with lots of amenities, good food, and friendly staff. There were a couple of little things overlooked in our room, but nothing strategic, just an indication that maybe there should be more attention to detail for this resort to maintain top ratings. The dining room and food are very good, service a little lax-again the attention to detail for all customers should be a priority with wait staff. All in all, the stay was pleasant but not overwhelming to the point of rushing back as soon as possible!

Room Tip: The first floor rooms are dark, but the rooms tend to be a bit dark and lodge-like. If you can secure...

I visited the lodge with my parents to celebrate their 40th anniversary and it was a splendid choice. While the location doesn't offer a lake view it is secluded enough to give the impression of solitude. We stayed in Room 305 which is two floors and offers plenty of space. The rooms have kitchens, gas fireplaces, washer/dryer and walk in closets. Very comfortable beds.

The property is beautiful and has a rustic, luxury feel. The campus includes a swimming pool, both outdoor and indoor and hot tubs. For the fisherman, their is even a catch and release pond. In the evening, in the fall, s'mores are available to make by the fire.

The restaurant offers man options as does the bar with local beers. In the basement you will find a fun area with a movie theatre, bowling lanes, broken air hockey table and billiards.

The staff are very friendly, but the concierge wasn't too informed about boating as she suggested that we would need a boating license, which is not the case.
