Me and 3 of my buddies stayed here just recently. we booked the kitchenette suite and the room looked much larger from the site but there weren't any complaints with it.clean and in a very good spot in the town. not too far from anything. 15 minutes from the mountain on a free shuttle so there was definitely no complaining there. awesome riding too. very good conditions i have seen previous reviews about the "hockey kids" and they do live up to the name, buncha rowdy little dudes haha. but that didn't bother me. the only thing i could recommend would be staying away from the locals and that pizza place bazzis across the street. Why? the locals are wack. 70 yr old men trying to sell u pot at the local jd mcfunnigans down the street whatever the stupid place was called. also met a few douchers in the lodge who kept making cracks at us because we weren't from around the area. probably also because we weren't drinking pabst blue ribbon haha. and just people u would generally NEVER want to see again the rest of your life cause they were such turds. Oh yeah an the expierence with bazzi's... Feeling great all day an getting hungry so i figure i would grab some dinner around the area. i walk into that place. i get one of their buffalo chicken bull sit wraps and take it down back in the room. Time goes by i'm feelin good then things take a turn for the worse. Literally sweating so much that i had to open a window at that point. next thing i know i'm in the bathroom projectile vommiting diarhea or what looked like it out into the toilet. one of the worst sickness feelings i've had in a long time. couldn't move the rest of the night. thought i had food poisoning. Also ate at that place connected to the hotel "generations" my buddy found a Fvcking quarter in his salad. shortly after he went and bout 5 bazooka joe's at the local candy shop. haha just messing around he actually ended up throwing up. Again your hotel wasn't bad, just the stuff around it. i don't know if i'll ever visit LP again but if i do, i know what to stay away from

Dear Daniel W,
I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Golden Arrow. I am sorry that you had such a negative experience with Bazzi's, but we are in no way affiliated with them.
Again, thank you for your review. I hope you will come to Lake Placid again, until then, we wish you safe and happy travels.

We just stayed at the Arrow for a week of skiing and had a great stay. This time we brought another family with us and had our rooms connected. The kids had a riot going room to room without going into the hall. The room and the staff where excellent. We have stayed at other places in Placid but keep coming back to the Arrow and it always is top notch.Great Value and Hospitality.
Thank You to Richard on the front desk for the gift as a returning guest. It was pleasant surprise and a classy touch.
Thanks

This has to be my 15th time to LP,and at least 10 at the Golden Arrow, it just keeps getting better!
perfect location in town right smack in the middle of everything. I will not stay in any other hotel and have been loyal the the GA since the 90's. i dont know if it was a stroke of luck or maybe just a lil Sandy sympathy ,but Jenn graciously gave us , what i though was, the best room in the house , the bathroom was brand new , we were the first guests after the renovation,Her father created the bathroom and countertop . We felt like royality. It didnt even feel like we were in a hotel ! I cant thank you guys enough for the beautiful room and hospiltality! we are and will always be loyal to you guys ! After the Sandy knockdown(but not out) , we sure needed a vacation and you guys, as always, Deliver the goods !! Happy New year !
thanks

Dear Rick and Barb,
Thank you for your loyalty to the Golden Arrow through the years. It is guests like you that keep us open and successful! I'm so happy that you enjoyed your latest visit to Lake Placid. It's good to hear that after the horrific outcome of Hurricane Sandy you are remaining positive and able to get out for a vacation.
I'm glad you enjoyed your accommodations. We have been under going many reservations lately so it is always good to hear that they are being received well and appreciated.
Again, thank you for your kind words are continued loyalty. Happy New Year to you and your family. We hope to see you again soon!

Stayed in a lakefront delux room for 5 nights. Truly enjoyed our stay. There were some minor issues with the sliding doors and the shower mixer system is not very convenient to use, but other than that everything was up to our expactations - clean and comfortable room, good facilities (they even have a loft room with a punch bag in the gym, which was a pleasant syrprise for me), friendly and knowledgeable staff. The location is perfect - right on the Main Street; the shuttle bus to the mountain stops just across the road from the hotel and the oval skating rink is 3-minute walk away.

We have been coming to ski Whiteface every New Year for the last four years. We always find the Golden Arrow to be the most economical choice. This year was no different. Golden Arrow was by far the cheapest option and it has some of thebetter amenties in the village. Huge Pool and fitness center which always gives my kids plenty to do after skiing, easy walking distance to restaurants and shops and lots of covered parking (essential when its 5 degrees and snowing out). The staff are always very nice, and we just feel welcome, and feel like we got a good deal, and those are two key reasons why we keep coming back and plan doing so again next year. If you are thinking about staying in the Village (you really should, its adorable) the Golden Arrow is centrally located, cheap, clean and comfortable and really much nicer then its 'Star' rating implies. No need to Pay up for the High Peaks Resort or the Crowne Plaza, just book the Golden Arrow but inquire about hockey tournaments as this place tends to attract families because of its proximity to the Olympic Hockey facility and those folks can be loud. We have found the staff to be very honest about this concern and will offer rooms at the far ends of the hotel, away from the hockey groups.

Room Tip: We like the top floors at the extreme ends of the hotel - they tend to get less traffic and are more...

I can not say enough good things about our stay!! From the moment you check in you are warmly greeted by a kind staff. The lobby is beautiful and the views of Mirror Lake are breathtaking! Our room was tastefully decorated and the view from the balconey of the lake was spectacular. The bed was extremely comfortable and everyone had a wonderful rest on their very comfy beds!
We were very impressed by their dedication to the environment and were proud to be staying at a hotel that takes their ecological responsibility so seriously. From the soap products, to their green roof, they are role models for the rest of the hotel industry!
The location can't be beat for a stay at Lake Placid, You are seconds away from the charming shops and eateries. Their attention to detail is evident throughout their hotel and I can't wait to come again. There is no better place to stay than this charming and beautiful hotel in all of Lake Placid!!!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review. I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed your time at the Golden Arrow. We are constantly striving to update and improve the resort so it is good to know that the work is appreciated. I’m also glad to hear that you noticed some of our green initiatives while you visited. Preserving the Adirondack Park is extremely important to us, and although we never try to force our green initiatives on to guests, it is always rewarding to hear that they are being received well.
Again, thank you for your review. We do hope that you will be able to take a trip back to Lake Placid and the Golden Arrow soon.
Happy New Year and safe travels!

My husband and I came here for a mini-honeymoon. He had ulterior motives; he's a Civil War junkie and was dying to visit John Brown Farm in North Elba. I had no idea how much this trip would exceed my expectations. A lakeside room is a must if you're staying at Golden Arrow. On a cle:ar day, the view of Mirror Lake and the Adirondacks is breathtaking, and luckily we were there during peak foliage. Excellent location right on Main Street. Room was clean, and I liked their green initiatives like the option to not have your towels or bedding changed during your stay. We got breakfast from Generations on both days and it was so delicious, but we had to bring it back to our room. Which brings me to the one and only thing that would've made the trip flawless: We specifically stayed here because the hotel is dog friendly, but you are not allowed to leave your dog in the room unattended unless it is crated, and you risk getting kicked out if your dog barks a lot. Our dog is not used to a crate, has never been crated and would undoubtedly make a ton of noise if we left her caged up in a strange room (but probably not if she was loose). It just seems like a strange rule if you are going to choose to allow dogs. So this really limited us in terms of being able to use the pool, and we had to bring her with us and leave her in the car when we went out for dinner. It would be great if there was some sort of a doggy day care nearby, but by no means did this ruin our trip and most of our activities were outdoors anyway. We were sad to leave and cannot wait to come back. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great Adirondack getaway.
