The Placid Bay Inn was very nice. The inn sits right on Lake Placid, and there are two paddle boats that guests can use as part of the room rate. There are also chairs and a table out back by the water. The room we got was very basic, not even a hairdryer, but it was perfectly adequate and sparkling clean.
The Inn does not come with breakfast, and there is no restaurant, but it is about a 10-15 minute walk into town, and a two-minute walk to a Howard Johnson's restaurant that had a good breakfast.
Lake Placid in general is a very cute little town with good restaurants, shops, and hiking. The service was excellent wherever we went. We had lunch at Charlie's and dinner at Pasta la Vista, and both were great.
