We stayed at Hifadhi in March for several nights, and very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel, which is only a short walk (maybe five minutes) to the main road of Chake Chake. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, and the staff are friendly, polite and attentive. Shumi, the general manager, is a particular delight, and is a very welcoming face on Pemba Island.
The breakfast was lovely, and the hotel has a good array of meals on-site, which is convenient.
Do be sure to check to make sure credit cards are accepted. Outdated guide books reference ATMs in Chake, but this is no longer the case (Barclays has shut down, unfortunately, so be prepared for this in general when visiting Pemba). Shumi said that the hotel will soon be equipped to accept credit card payments, however, and this may be the case. (And Shumi was kind and accommodating enough for us to figure out a way to pay our balance once we got back to Unguja.)
A great stay overall!
