“Doesn't honor their word”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2014

Booked a night here, was told that after I signed off and promised I would honor their no cancellation policy that this was, in fact, a REQUEST for a reservation. Upon calling later, was told my room had been booked by someone else. The other offers for rooms at 'nearby' BnBs were insulting - they looked worse than grandma's long-forgotten guest room. Not sure how they operate with such a flimsy system, but it does not do justice to the many BnBs that work hard to offset the label that BnBs are not wort the aggravation.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us here, Theresa. I can certainly understand how frustrating this must have been for you, and I do apologize if our reservation policies weren't clearly communicated via the booking system. Please know that you're being heard loud & clear and we'll absolutely keep your feedback in mind moving forward. If there's anything we can do to make this right, please don't hesitate to reach out directly.

All the best,

This rustic inn and restaurant is near Cayuga Lake and Myers Pt. park. Good for lunch or dinner and outside dining when weather permits. Friday/Saturday prime rib is our favorite and fish fry a close second. The menu has appetizers with local foods and the staff are helpful in offering food specials. Bench and pub style seating. They feature NY beers and wines. Good food and value.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences here! It's wonderful to hear that you've been continually impressed with our food and beer offerings. We do our best to support local around here, so I'm so glad that has shined through. We're actually not open for lunch, though! You'll have to plan your next visit around dinnertime so you can enjoy all our offerings. We'll hope to see you around soon for a beer on our porch -- you've always got a seat at our table!

Cheers,
Eileen and Staff

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Inn and had dinner at the hotel. The room was very warm and comfortable. The staff and food were amazing. I would highly recommend this Inn to visitors. Both the Inn and the Restaurant felt like home.

I Loved it. The room was great, the food was great, tons of atmosphere, the staff was helpful and friendly and the craft brew beer was top notch. I was in town for Cornell family weekend and I know where where I will be staying when I come back to visit.

We arrived Saturday evening and as we drove up to the Inn we were quite surprised at the state of the building as it looked as though it was falling apart. We kept an optimistic view went inside and had to get the attention of the woman at the front desk. She was quite interested in securing payment and was not interested in conversing with us about the Inn and
checking with us to see if we had any questions. Another young (obviously new) woman brought us to our room and quickly left before checking to see if we were all set or showing us any amenities of the B&B. We noticed pretty quickly there were repairs made to the walls of the room as well as the bathroom that stood out because of a different paint finish. Given the
cost of the room our expectations were such that were staying at a quality Inn.

As we entered the room we noticed flies. Not one... many! We were quite disgusted but giving the benefit of the doubt we thought we'd bring it to the attention of the person at the front desk. As we looked around the room more we were both feeling that the money being spent on the room was too much given the quality. With plastic coverings over some windows and towels tucked into another window it was obvious that there hasn't been any maintenance
performed. Replacement windows, which aren't very costly should have been a priority for this room to cut down on the traffic noise and the noise of employees talking in the side yard which was right by below this rooms window. The noise cancelation contraption was not a viable answer to the noise issue as the machine is quite noisy itself. So much for a nice
quiet getaway at an Inn.

We ventured down for dinner and told the young lady at the front deck to please do something about the flies. She nodded but looked dumbfounded.

Back in the room after dinner we were disgusted to find dead flies on the white sheets of the bed near our pillows and floor. We dealt with it. The next morning
we were up and ready to take showers. The shower curtain was stained and clipped with a clothesline clip (not very high quality for the price charged for the room). The tub was stained as well. The faucets moved on their own and taking a shower became a challenge as we'd have to adjust the knobs ever 2 seconds. We mentioned to a new woman at the front desk
about the flies in our room and that there were more again. Though she took care of it (there were still flies), she was not very apologetic. Again really poor customer service.

Lastly at breakfast one morning there were fruit flies all over the fruit.
There were also leftover doughnuts from the day before one morning. Leftovers?

Room Tip: Don't go here!

2-night stay during peak (foliage) season. We were happy with the size of room, and the enormous bed was comfortable. However, the truly historic inn (ca. 1830) has limitations due to its age and landmark status. The bathroom was rather cramped with no counter space. The hallways and stairs were worn out, with thin carpet over the creaky wood floors, and as fairly experienced B&Bers we thought renovations were not as nice as we'd expect for the room price. The breakfast on both mornings was disappointing, though served in the very attractive exposed-brick "ballroom." Not sure if it was a staffing, equipment, or recipe issue, but we felt a little ripped off. Be aware that the inn faces busy roads on two sides, has no setback, and experiences a lot of traffic noise (and route 34 is favored by motorcyclists as well as truckers).

Room Tip: Quieter room would be southeast corner, facing the parking lot

I appreciate you sharing your experience and offering up some great feedback here! Since the inn was built in 1830, it does have some interesting quirks that we think add to the overall charm. The floors can be a bit creaky, but we think it'd be such a shame to alter them -- after all, they're over 150 years old! Of course, we know this type of charm isn't everyone's cup of tea when staying at a B&B, and we absolutely respect that.

As far as the breakfast, I'd love to get more feedback on what just wasn't hitting the spot. We're always looking for ways to better your experience, so any further feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you for the review and we'll hope to hear from you soon!

Cheers,
Eileen and Staff

Sent in a request form after seeing a room was available, gave all my info including credit card info. Got a generic email back saying that I would be contacted shortly with confirmation. Tried to call directly to firm up the date. No answer, answering machine saying leave a message. 24 hrs later, still no contact. Finally got a person on the phone and was told the room was rented to someone else the same day that I gave all my info. Was also told that the woman who took care of the online requests was "under the weather"! Told him this was not a good way to run a business. Probably for the best, but aggravating non the less.
