I had my daughter's First Communion party here this past weekend. I originally made made my reservation and paid my deposit back in October 2013. I met with the owner's son and went over all the details. We discussed which room I would be in and the set up. A week before I returned to make the final arrangements. Unfortunately because of other events held this time of year many of my guest were unable to attend and my anticipated number dropped. This was not a problem with the lady that took my information. Since this was to be my first party here I left the table setup up to them, whatever works best is what I said. My only request was that enough room is left to set up an area for the children to color and do crafts. The following day I called back to inform them that I was having a magician come in and would this be a problem with space? I was assured it would not. I asked that room was provided for the magician to set up.
When we arrived after the ceremony I was escorted to the wrong room. When I questioned this I was told I would have to speak to the owner. The owner came out and told me no this was the correct room. I explained that I met with his son in October and we sat in the room that I reserved. The set up in the room he was putting me in was unacceptable. It was crowded and no room for the children and no place for the magician. Honestly at this point there was not much I could do. My guest were standing around and my daughter was getting upset. He pretty much blamed me because I now had 4 guest less than I had reserved. He insisted that I should have called him. I did not know I was down 4 people until about 15 minutes before we arrived at the restaurant. Either way, this in no way changes the fact that they messed up. I am so dissapointed in how the owner handled this. He told me well there was another party booked in that room and the tables are already set up. He could move some of our tables around to put the kids table. This made it even worse as far as space. When the magician arrived he was stuck in a small area right by a door that lead to the bathrooms. You could imagine that there were people from other parties back and forth during the performance. It was absolutely ridiculous. The owner did come in and ask me a couple of times if I was ok and he just wants me happy. What was I supposed to do or say? At that point he made very little effort to do anything other than clear two tables off for the kids. He pointed a finger at me and made it my fault that his restaurant messed up. Never once offering anything to make it right.
As far as the food we opted with package #2. I think they had different menus on the tables. The food was average at best. The salad was ridiculous. Lettuce and a couple of tomatoes. Why bother? One guest had ordered the veal and he said that it didn't taste right. I informed the server and she wanted to argue with me. I finally had to tell her that she needs to just get him something else. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs with sauce on the side for my kids. The server brings it with sauce on it and says to me that oh they put sauce on it (knowing it was wrong) and tried giving it to them. I should not have had to ask her to bring them what they ordered. She was annoyed that she had to take it back. A couple of my guest said that the waitress gave them a hard time. She also let the drinks empty without refilling until I asked. The cake came from Dortonis Bakery. It was excellent. My complaint is that it was actually too small. Thank God that I was down 4 guest. It certainly would not have been enough. The cake is part of the package. They ordered the smallest one possible. The slices were paper thin. My guest that wanted seconds couldn't get it. No coffee refills.
Bottom line is this party was a huge dispointment. I am happy that my daughter enjoyed herself. I am not happy that I was treated the way I was. I understand that this restaruant has been around for a long time. The owner needs to know that he has nothing special there. His restaurant is worn and tired looking. It could have standed an update many years ago. If the food was wonderful I could overlook that. The food was just ok. The customer service needs a lot of work. I really wanted to like this place. I have another daughter making Communion next year and it would have made my life easier. I will definately not use them again. I have several family member and friends that have children making their Communions next year, I will not reccomend this place to anyone for a party.
I was going to write a letter to the owner but I think this is more effective. I hope this helps anyone that is thinking about using this place or has already reserved.
