“Run of the mill Cantonese food spoiled by very poor service”

My husband and I went for dinner there tonight even though our tastes run more to spicier styles of Chinese food. The restaurant is clean and well lit but the good parts end there.
The food is run of the mill, mild Cantonese style. It wasn't to our tastes but it was well prepared (i.e. cooked properly, served hot etc.) but the meal was spoiled by the poor service.
We had multiple servers working the table who obviously didn't communicate with each other and that was the likely cause of the errors in the food service. The brought out the first dish we'd ordered but not the second. Ok, we thought they're bringing them out one at a time. Not the case, after we'd finished up the first dish a waiter cleared the entire table including half a bowl of brown rice we'd ordered to go with the meal. They then didn't bring us the second dish but rather the fruit and cookies indicating that the waiter thought we were done. We had to point out that a second dish was supposed to be served. They had to reset the table and go get the second dish which, luckily was still hot. When we asked for more rice to replace the half full bowl they'd taken away they brought it and then pointed out "No charge". I wouldn't have expected to pay extra to replace food they'd removed by mistake.
After we'd finished eating they brought the bill and there was a $10 mistake in the total. When we pointed it out to the waiter instead of admitting the math mistake he'd taken the bill to the host to get it corrected.
All in all, if you want very main stream Cantonese and can deal with poor service you may be very happy here. Otherwise, I'd try another place in the area.

Thank Lil B

Went there on a Saturday late afternoon..... Restaurant had 3 couples. They did get us a high chair quickly with the menus and a pot of tea.....THAT was all we GOT. I feed the baby thinking any minute they would come over to get our order. THIS NEVER HAPPENED.....We were in the restaurant over 30 minutes with a toddler. A Asian couple with 2 kids came in after us they ordered and got served before us .....We tried to get their attention .... We ended up leaving without being serve and not one asked us what the problem was.....my husband said it's because we aren't ASIAN

If you want consistently great ribs, and don't want to travel to Manhattan or the south, then this is the place to go. We have been here many times and they never fail to deliver. The service is fine, but the wait on weekends tends to be long sometimes. i guess that is what you have to put up with to enjoy theior great cooking.

If you like dim sum and you don't like to pay, this is the perfect restaurant or you. Everything else is horrible. Cleanliness, service and parking are all lacking. Try their beef fried noodle or the seafood fried noodle. Both excellent.

Yes, this place serves great dim sum and you don't have to fight the crowds in Flushing. Parking in the neighborhood is easier than the Flushing area which is a plus, but that doesn't mean there are no crowds here to contend with. There's a parking lot in the back but it's always filled up, so don't waste your time just park on the street(meter parking). It's dim sum mania because everyone seems to be all waiting to be seated all around the noon time on the weekends. Since there is not many dim sum restaurants this east of Flushing, it's all supply and demand...get it? If it's a holiday weekend, expect to wait even more for a table. Granted the food is really good, erego the crowds but is it worth the wait even though you get less than stellar service? The servers at this place seems to be not paid much so they're never happy to serve you but have do because it's their job. Sometimes you have to ask/beg for attention to get something but if it's to get your check...pronto, faster than a speeding bullet! If you coming here just for the food(especially the noodle dishes ie:beef chow fun, har moon chow mei fun, seafood pan fried noodles), it's worth the stress and aggravation. All dim sum fanatics understand the frenzy that occurs when aggressively going for the fresh hot dan tarts coming out on the carts. Speaking of dan tarts, if you showup later than 1pm, forget about it...get your dan tart fixes at Fay Dah bakeries back in Flushing. You can get all the usual dim sum fare here and their cheung fun's(shrimp, my favorite) is exceptional. Prices are slightly higher than what you would pay in Flushing but because they know they don't have much competition in the area...you're stuck. I do hope more dim sum places can come out here to drive down prices! The nearest dim sum restaurant is off the LIE on the service road after the Douglaston shopping area(over a mile away). They do dim sum really well too but not close enough to compete with Northern Manor and drive prices down. You still pay for it if you know what I mean:) You want dim sum this east of Flushing...you pay for it!
