The tour was informative and interesting. The guide did a wonderful job of pointing out interesting items along the canal and facts about the two locks we traversed. Nice relaxing Sunday afternoon.

Take a lazy cruise thru the locks and down the Erie Canal. Only about 30 minutes from Niagara Falls NY. Nice side trip along with Ft Niagara NY. Very interesting to be in the Canal I had sung about as a kid! Not very interesting for kids but we enjoyed it!!

First, my husband serenaded me with the words from the Erie Canal song)

"I've got a mule, and her name is Sal,
Fifteen miles on the Erie canal,
She's a good ol' worker and a good ol' pal,
Fifteen miles on the Erie canal" .....continues

We then went on the boat cruise and went through the various locks.....it was interesting watching the water fill and then empty behind us.....We saw a historic tugboat on our cruise that was also doing the trip on the Erie. We enjoyed hearing the narration during our cruise.

We had good seats in the front part of the boat, top deck.

This boat cruise is within a half hour drive of the Niagara Falls area.
We parked in the free lot by the attraction.

We visited the Canal cruise in October 2013 while visiting from California. Mother nature worked in our favor and produced a fabulous day of cruising the Lockport canal. Moving through the locks was both interesting and relaxing. We really enjoyed our day!

I studied about the Erie Canal as a kid and had no idea it still existed. Yet there we were, with a tour group after a conference, eating food so wonderful that I ran for seconds on the carrots. Can you imagine voluntarily eating more carrots?! The crew was attentive and set the mood with period music. They were interspersed among the passengers so questions could be posed and answered quickly. My spouse and I were fascinated just watching the last two locks on the canal work. All of those lessons I had in school made sense. The town along the canal is picturesque. There were mini history lessons along the way. One of the neat experiences was watching a bridge go up and down to allow us to pass. If you're into history, boats, nostalgia, relaxation, and very good food, do your homework, investigate the schedule, and positively expand upon a Niagara Falls vacation. This company offers a worthwhile break from watching the falls and connects the reason for why the Erie Canal was built BY HAND in close proximity to the falls -- the reason it was built in the first place.
