We were not originally booked into an ocean front room, but one of our party made a comment in passing that she had really hoped for an ocean view, and the amazing staff at the front desk - Jeff in particular - made it happen for us. The room was very nice and clean; only a short walk to some restaurants and shopping; right on the boardwalk; and a cool bar just off the lobby with live jazz.
Great stay...

I don't know what other reviewers experienced and why, but we had a great experience and I would recommend. The rooms were clean, contemporary and the bed very comfortable and cozy. The ambiance was spectacular. The pictures on the website do not do the Allegria Hotel and property justice. This is the perfect setting for weddings, engagement parties and birthdays. They can create many different settings within their numerous spaces. We had 100+ people stay at the hotel.. Dinner Friday night was made to order by a great chef and committed catering staff. Thank you Peter, Director of catering and staff. The food was bountiful. Cocktails flowing. Service was terrific. The hotel was warm and friendly, From the time I valet parked the car, met the gracious welcoming faces like the Director of Rooms and Operations Magdy to getting back into my car when it was time to leave. I never wanted to leave. Ps. Jason at the front desk was a doll. The weekend was perfect.

Room Tip: beach front is the best

visiting from AZ for a Bar Mitzvah in the area. Service was good with plenty of staff on a busy 3 wedding weekend at the hotel. Great location being right on the brand new beautiful Sandy rebuilt boardwalk and beach. The Fitness Center is great with a beautiful view of the ocean as you workout. Too bad the pool was closed. The staff was very helpful, led by Magdy who helped us resolve a pricing issue. Also helpful were Jason and Jeff at the front desk. Thanks for a good time.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights recently while attending a family function in Long Beach. The room was "okay" but definitely wasn't of $200-a-night quality. Light poured through an ill-fitting entry door, lights didn't work, the phone didn't work properly, Wi-Fi was extra, street parking was practically non-existent, no place in the bathroom to place personal items, etc. But the biggest complaint, by far, was the noise. We wanted to have a drink in the lounge at 6:00 p.m. before going out to dinner, but that was impossible because the music had already started blaring throughout the entire floor. The manager refused to turn it down because "this is a lounge." When we returned from our evening out at 11:00 p.m., the music was even louder. So bad, in fact, our bed on the fifth floor was literally shaking. Two calls to the front desk generated only a tepid response: "Yes, this is a hotel, but it is also a nightclub." Advice to potential guests, therefore, would be, if you want to party, this may be a decent place to stay. But if you want to sleep, relax, or talk, avoid this place like the plague.

To create a wonderful wedding celebration, along with showcasing Long Island's beautiful beachfront to our friends, we planned a weekend getaway for many out of town guests. From the moment we had our initial meetings. we were struck with a feeling that there was incompetence, combined with arrogance, from many staff members at this hotel. To allay our concerns, we arranged for multiple meetings with the hotel's events staff. along with the general manager - all of whom assured us that our weekend would be flawless.

Unfortunately, despite months of meetings and planning, this turned out to be untrue. In retrospect, we should have heeded our initial perceptions. However, we were fooled into thinking that the management of this hotel really wanted to do better and would pull together a team that could deliver a special weekend event. This did not happen.

They absolutely cannot and will not deliver on what they promise you. Take it from us, we spent hours with incompetent staff and management who feigned caring and capability, but they could not deliver. There was little - if any - welcoming feeling given to guests from the time they arrived -throughout the entire weekend..

Here are just a few of the specific complaints during the weekend.

A buffet dinner in which the food was not adequately replenished - it took over 45 minutes to get additional food onto a table...which we were promised would be filled as plates were emptied. The appropriate wine that was ordered was not served until midway through dinner, when we noticed the wrong label on the bottles. Desserts on the agreed-upon menu were substituted without notification. Overall, the manager on duty that evening told us at the end of our dinner: " they did not do a good job on delivering." What a surprise!

A block of rooms was reserved for guests. Most had issues which ranged from no air conditioning to overflowing toilets and paper thin walls which made sleeping difficult. There was lost luggage, along with an overall uncaring and arrogant attitude when problems were brought to their attention. Rooms keys didn't work...every time we got into an elevator we heard other guests from different parties venting about their issues with the Allegria. No one was happy that weekend!

The best description of this hotel is from one of our guests who stated was that this place is like a Hollywood set- you see a nice building - on a beachfront- with the glitz and glamour in the lobby and bar. However when you go inside and upstairs nothing is put together well - it is all fake.

The height of arrogance (which is ultimately most disappointing) is when top management recognizes that there are serious issues and does nothing to correct them. The management and staff know and admit that there are real problems. Yet- top down - little or nothing was done to rectify the issues nor to apologize when things were not well delivered.

It is time for the owner and management to take stock of the vastness of their problems and address them head on - with dignity and diligence.

To all who are planning events here or planning to stay here- don't. Truly, we are sorry that we did not heed our initial apprehension and plan for our guests to stay at the Hampton Inn - which is the other hotel that various guests stayed at and which delivered.
