Had we based our stay on the person who took our reservation we would not have stayed here. We were there for a funeral and were suppose to get that rate. We were told one price by the widow and when we called we were given a different price. When we questioned the difference we were told in no uncertain terms that that was the rate. Also, our charge card was charged as of the day we made the reservation. The staff that was at the hotel when we arrived was just the opposite of the reservation clerk. They went out of their way to accommodate us. Even not charging us for the frig in our room when they found out it was to store medication. The beds were very comfortable. The free breakfast was good. The Boondocks Restaurant which is in front of the hotel has excellent food.

Room Tip: All rooms appeared to be equal in quality.

We got the whole family together for my mother's birthday way up there in the North Country. There really wasn't much around for us to do in early April, since it hit between colder snowmobile season, and warmer weather for fun on the water. However, The Edge Hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff there was very helpful and accomodating. I would definitely stay there again when visiting in the area.

The decor was very cute - rustic ski lodge atmosphere. While I rated the location only Average, I'm so glad there is something like The Edge up there for us to take advantage of when we need a place that we can all fit into!

Room Tip: If you can't take stairs easily or have lots to carry in, ask for a ground floor room since ther...

We stay here several times each winter for snowmobiling. Always a great experience. Easy access to Tug Hill. Can access Brantingham and Old Forge, too!!! Clean hotel, staff very helpful. Easy parking for trucks/trailers.

This hotel came recommended to us by a Utica-area acquaintance, after we asked about places to stay on our late-day drive up towards Lake Placid. The hotel staff was very nice, front desk is staffed 24 hours. The cabin-style lobby has a large fire place, with ample seating for the free continental breakfast, or just for hanging out to read or relax, and a small local-crafts shop. The room was clean and quite large, with a dedicated wall unit for heating and cooling, and plenty of channels available on the TV. There is also a free computer for guest use, with printer, for internet access in the side-entrance hallway. The parking lot is expansive, great for toy-hauler trailers. Our only complaint (at least in our case - I didn't see this mentioned in any of the other reviews) was that the otherwise comfortable mattress had a rubber/plastic/foam type of mattress pad, the kind that causes you to sweat and develop "hot spots" where ever you're in contact with it within minutes of laying down. Certainly fixable if you're aware of it before settling in for the night, but it made for a less-than-restful sleep for our single-night stay. Beyond that, the Edge was the least-costly hotel of our week-long road-trip vacation, and definitely worthy of a future stay. The Boondocks pub, within stumbling distance, and which you have to go past in the driveway to get to the hotel, had great food and unprecedented $2 Yuengling pints (with plenty of other beers bottled and on tap). Plus you get a "chip" for a free drink from the hotel upon check in. Locals eat and drink there, so you know it's good.

Room Tip: We stayed on the Rte 12 road side of the hotel, but the hotel is far enough from the road that we di...

Stayed here for one night in August for a family wedding in town. I was very pleased with our stay. The front staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby had a nice relaxing cabin type feel with a nice size fireplace and rocking chair. The room we stayed in was very clean, as was the Bathroom. In the parking lot was a cozy restaurant and bar called Boondocks that stayed open fairly late which was perfect for a wedding after party. Wi-fi is free and there is enough channels on the TV to keep you occupied. The value was perfect.

Room Tip: Get a second floor as on the first floor, you can hear a lot above you. Be prepared to pay up fron...

Just returned from one night's stay at the Edge. It is CLEAN and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic--no fancy bed linens, etc. but the beds are fine, the TV has lots of channels, and the wi-fi is free. The price is right, too--$89 a night. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available twenty four hours a day and the continental breakfast from 6-11 was basic but a good start to our trip home. All in all a nice place to stay.

We booked The Edge based on Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed. Cozy with a nice Adirondack feel. Staff at desk were very friendly. Great help with directions. Their "continental breakfast" was above and beyond the usual. Lots of fresh fruit and make your own waffles. They have local hand crafted items for sale: bracelets, earrings, maple syrup, aprons. The entire facility is spotless - halls, lobby, rooms..... They are supportive of our Military and local charities. Equally good is Boondocks, the restaurant out front. Great food, friendly wait staff, good prices.
