“Very Friendly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2009

Stayed at this hotel when we were doing some family research in the Tug Hill region. This was a last minute walk-in stay. The price was reasonable, even though they seemed to be the only game in town. The continental breakfast was good - my husband loves those flippy waffle makers and thinks we ought to have one at home. What I really loved was how friendly, helpful and personable the staff was. By the way - the bed was FIRM, but I like it like that.

We've stayed at The Edge a few times over Labor Day weekends to see the moedown music festival. It is a pretty mediocre hotel but we've stayed there because it was the only option in town. Obviously they know it. When we had to cancel the day before this weekend we were told that we couldn't get our deposit back even though they admitted they'd have no trouble re-selling the room because of the moedown. "It's policy" is all they would say. They then offered to credit the deposit toward the following year but the next day rescinded the offer. In the process they were mean and rude. Yuck.

This is a nice hotel. Very clean and every employee is very nice. They don't know much about the snowmobile trails. Breakfast is nice but after a few days, it gets boring. Waffles are good. The decor is amazing. I felt like I was in a lodge. The beds are the worst part of the hotel. I could not tell if I was sleeping on the bed or sleeping on the floor. Very hard mattresses. We used to stay at this hotel several weekends in the winter for snowmobiling because the price of the hotel was cheaper than some in the area and it is clean, but we found another hotel that is priced a little cheaper but the beds are 100 times more comfortable. I am only in the hotel to sleep so I was unable to get a good nights rest, so I found another hotel to stay at. If they got better beds, I would definately return. We heard kids running the halls and in the rooms above us but after a call to the front desk, the noise was a bit quieter.

The Edge is a very clean, efficient hotel with good size rooms & nice bathrooms, although the towels are pretty thin. The breakfast is more than ample & there is a huge lobby with plenty of tables for the breakfast crowd or just for hanging out. The staff is friendly & very accommodating.

  • Liked — Cleanliness
  • Disliked — All the stuff in the lobby area, a bit cluttered for my taste

My husband and I stayed at the Edge during a long fall foliage road trip this past fall, and after 2 days on the road the Edge provided a quiet place of rest. The hotel was immaculate (in part because it is brand new, but also well maintained), and the service was great. The desk clerk was very helpful in finding a place to have dinner, which is a necessity in this rural location. We ate at a nearby country club (I believe the restaurant was called Michael's), where we had a fabulous Italian meal. Highly recommend the Edge!

An excellent hotel. Very much for the outdoors type who are readly for walking, skiing, snowmobiling or AVT riding in the Adirondacks but just as welcoming for travellers. A very friendly place to stay with clean basic rooms. Our family ate at the near by pizza place. Nothing fancy but all that we needed. Self service buffet breakfast was great & we enjoyed learning to make waffles. The other guests were very friendly to our wee party too. We would stay here again if we're ever in this part of the USA.

  • Liked — Friendly sfatt & guests
  • Disliked — Rooms a bit dull
  • Tips/Secrets — Best accommodation I could find in the area & not disappointed when we arrived
