“Very Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2013

We phoned in a big order to be picked up. Food was ready at the time they told us for pick-up, staff helped us carry out bags to car. Huge portions of brisket, pulled pork, bbq chicken and St. Louis ribs were tasty. Corn fritters and wings appetizers were well received as were sides which included garlic smashed potatoes, mac & cheese, baked beans, & potato salad. Sauce was a little different... sweet vinegary but acceptable. Wasn't told 'til we asked at pick up if we could order items by pound/qt/slab or whatever measure which would have saved us some money, but we'll do that next time, which will happen. Though we didn't eat at the restaurant, atmosphere was pleasant on an early Sat evening. Lots of beers available.

“Good for my Family”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

Good for my family of four.
You might already know what to expect from a 'Barbecue Restaurant' and that may be what attracted you to consider Holy Smoke.
This is a good example of the 'Southern Barbecue' cuisine. It is old-fashioned, informal, friendly, unassuming, quite small and quite noisy. (It is much, much better than another local BBQ place in Croton)
We spent eighty dollars on a meal for four. Including beers and sides. Not bad. The food was good, the waiting service relaxed, friendly and not intrusive.
The food portions are generous. (You will likely bring some home.)
Will we go again? Yes.

“Great BBQ !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2013 via mobile

Been going there for years and haven't been disappointed. Babyback ribs, brisket and pulled pork are a must to order. I enjoy their sweet BBQ sauce (base must be molasses - finger licking good!). Smashes potatoes, baked beans, slaw, corn fritters are very good. Not sure of the story on corn muffins, always dry and hard, but that's not why I go there.

Good food and you get alot for the money. I love the pulled pork and the ribs are real good. They have a big selection of beer too. Fast service. Country type setting.

“You can't trust the NY Times Review”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2013

My brother, who lives in Florida saw the NY Times review and wanted to try Holy Smoke. It was with great expectation we headed to Mahopac. It looked like a barbecue joint and had the appropriate light smokey smell so imagine my shock when my brisket was served.....steamed and tasteless. The St. Louis ribs were dry, overlooked and stringy. The sweet potato fries were limp and greasy. This was one of the worst dining experiences we have had in a long time.

The waitstaff was good, knew the menu and was helpful selecting beer. That's about all that was good about this place.
