“Lovely honeymoon”
Reviewed 21 May 2011

There's a lot I could say in favour of the preskil but it would take all day!
so..beautiful setting, lovely beach and great staff!
Our room was literally next to the tapas restaurant and the guys there quickly knew our drinks order before we even got to the bar and referred to us as their 'neighbours'!
They were fantastic so I'm really thankful to the waiters and bar staff guys at the tapas restaurant!
Also charka restaurant was awesome!they didn't have fillet steak when we were there but it didn't matter all the steak was just beautiful and the staff again so good.
The atmosphere was so relaxed, perfect for a honeymoon but without being boring. There was loads to do. Kayaking to another island from preskil itself was great!
Water was lovely to snorkel in,it can get tough if the winds up but great fish to see and I have a marine fish tank so was made up at the vast variety!
The Ile aux cerfs trip was alsogreat. I actually enjoyed the catamaran more than the island because again the staff were so friendly and they do the best BBQ ever!!
well I could go on but you get the idea this is a beautiful location with a very nice hotel

We spent 8 Days at Le Preskil Beach Resort and where very sad when the weak was over. I spent months looking for the perfect destination to spend our honeymoon and i can say Le Preskil was the perfect destination.

We stayed in a Standard room which was great as it had everything we needed and most importantly a huge bed, shower and powerful aircon. We where on the half board package as we are not big drinkers and it worked out less then half what it would have cost to be on full board.

We eat lunch on the beach at Tapa's or indigo bar where the portions are huge, we eat there almost everyday unless we where out. Tapas was our favorite restaurant but our dinner at Chaka steak house was also really good and a welcome break from the Buffet. The buffet is good but lacks variety and they have themed evening but do not change the food much.

They treat everyone as VIP guests and the honeymoon extras are great. You get a gift (honeymoon shirt) on arrival, Duo message and a romantic dinner for two where the food is amazing.

The Catamaran cruise was great with food and drinks all inclusive for R500pp it is a bargain. We parasailed as well that day off a platform in the middle of the ocean. We also hired a Suzuki Jimny convertible jeep through avis one day and explored the south of the island this was the highlight of our trip. I did some research before we left and stopped at Cris Cris(Cliffs), Rochester falls, Chameral (coloured Earth) and at a local restaurant for lunch.

We enjoyed all the beach activities where there is something for everyone. Jean Claude who runs the beach activities is great and i learnt how to wind surf in 30min.

The sand at the resort could be nicer but considering there are three beaches to choose from and all the activities to do and not to forget the awesome snorkeling right off the hotels beaches i will not complain.

We loved every minute of our stay at Le Preskil and would recommend it to everyone.

We enjoyed most things about our 11 night stay at Preskil Beach resort. The staff were friendly and efficient and were happy to do anything for you. One nice touch was the flag system on the sun shades where you could raise your green flag and be quickly served with drinks or snacks at your sunbed.
We stayed on the all inclusive package and found the buffet food good quality but limited in choice so we ate mainly in the 2 waiter service restaurants. We particulary enjoyed the Tapas restaurant which had a lovely beach setting, perfect for a romantic meal with a relaxed bottle of wine.
The all inclusive choices of wine were good with 2 or 3 reds, whites and roses to choose from including a decent sparkling wine. You could order all of them by the bottle or glass. The choice of cocktails however was limited and as most of them on the menu were the same cost, we found it hard to understand why the choice could not have been greater. Water and soft drinks were also included as well as a good variety of local beers and spirits.
One problem we had was that from the brochures we expected our Prestige cottage to be on the beach. We were allocated room 322 which was on the other side of the resort to the main beach and had grass outside leading to a rope fence with a strip of sea and the road as the view. You had to walk right round to get to the beach which was very disappointing. We did manage to get moved after 2 days of asking and ended up on one of the lovely rooms on the beach. This was like a totally different holiday experience and I think the hotel should make this clear by making these rooms a different grade to the others. (I have included photos of the 2 locations).
The seating outside the main bar was poor, just wooden benches which was a shame because we prefered to sit here in the evenings to enjoy the warm air and sea view. Some nicer tables and chairs would have made this really special.
Having said all this we did really enjoy our holiday. The resort is relaxed and clean and we enjoyed the trip to Blue Bay although less so the one to Isle de Cerfs which was comercialised and expensive. We also went Big Game fishing over on the West coast. Despite huge effort for us by our Crew on Hooker V, it wasn't great because water was rough and we did not catch anything, but we saw lots of dolphins and of course, another time it could have been calm with successful fishing which would have made it brilliant!
We would probably go back because it was excellent value for money with lots to do, a lovely location and relaxed atmosphere.

Room Tip: May be worth trying to request a beach front room

This was our first trip to mauritius and i scoured the island looking for the right hotel and i was not dissappointed. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you are treated with a smile ,the staff are fantastic. We stayed in a prestige cottage on the beach with sparkling blue water views only meters away. The room could have done with a bit of attention like some tiles were broken around the corner bath and it wanted resealing but apart from that it was wonderful and clean. The food was fabulous in the buffet restaurant ,we stayed all inclusive and i would recommend it as it could turn out to be a very expensive holiday otherwise. The tapas restaurant food was very nice and the lobster has to be tried(£45 but worth it) and the steaks at the charka reataurant are out of this world. The pools are safe and warm with sport and leisure staff always around if anything ever happened.Watersports were free (inc water skiing)and numerous trips could be booked off the beach with various sellers,we went to swim with dolphins with Kinsley and you cannot go wrong he is very friendly ,safe, attentive and good value for money. The beach sellers do not hassle you tou buy and you can have a good laugh with them. All in all apart from there being alot of french people is was superb ,we'll be back!

Room Tip: look at the hotel book that area by e mail

We had a wonderful stay at Preskil. The setting is stunning with clear views from the beach to lush mountains, neighbouring islands and the azure waters of the Indian ocean. The beaches although on the small side were lovely in our opinion, and the best thing for me was the amazing snorkelling to be found just metres into the sea from the hotel (there is a lot of coral inside the reef). Don't forget your snorkelling gear. The hotel provides it on boat trips, but not for snorkelling off the beach. The trip to Blue Bay and swimming with Dolphins by the way are amazing. Don't be too worried about weather forecasts before you go, long range forecasts predicted a week of thunderstorms and actually we had sunshine every day with only a few showers and higher temperatures than predicted.

The design of the resort is lovely with pretty bar and restaurant areas. Our room was quite nice (prestige cottage), but it was a little on the tired side. The spa with complimentary hammam and sauna was fantastic and I had one of the best massages I've ever had there. We stayed on a half board basis and this suited us best as I felt it gave more choice over drinks etc. Drinks are pricey, but no more than UK prices and even with lunch most days, several a la carte dinners and a good quality bottle of wine most evenings we still ended up spending less than the A/I option. However, if you're really into your cocktails and want lots of them A/I is probably better value! The buffets at the Spices restaurant were generally good, but the local cuisine of curries, grilled fish meats etc were much better than the 'international' evenings where food was a bit bland. The a la carte restaurants Chakra steak house and Tapas were very good and made a nice break from buffets. The hotel musicians and performers were amazing and top quality, not at all tacky as can sometimes be the case with resort bands.

Overall we were really pleased with Preskil. It is not a luxury hotel, but it is very nice, set in a stunning location and good value for money. I would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: Go for a prestige cottage-ask for one on the beach

My wife and I have travelled extensively and the Preskil Beach is one of the best resorts we have stayed in. Location could not be better; on one of the largest bays on Mauritius with clear blue seas and total seclusion. Staff are simply wonderful polite, courteous, friendly and so very helpful at all times. The Charka steak restaurant serve the best steaks I have eaten anywhere in the World (including the US)and should not be missed, the Tapas restaurant serves wonderful food in a romantic location and the Spices buffet restuarant has themed nights serving excellent food. We stayed in a Prestige Cottage and our room was on the beach with wonderful views across the bay. The room and the whole hotel were very well mantained and the gardens were delightful. The range of water sports offered by the hotel was wide and the beach staff very attententive. We could find nothing to fault this hotel and look forward to returning in the near future.

Resort is pretty, staff are really friendly & helpful, hotel is really family friendly, there are lots of free activities to do inside & on beach & are all a lot of fun, buffet dinner was good, lots of variety & taste pretty good. I would recommend to stay here.

Location not fantastic, nothing outside of resort, but close to airport, there is one super market which is 5mins taxi ride.

Lagoon room was good size & clean, bed was uncomfortable, it was 2 single beds placed horizontally creating a massive gap across the middle & you will feel it on your back! Pillows were a little flat.

Bathroom amenities consists of facial tissue, hair dryer, shower cap, soap, shower gel & shampoo, a bit rubbish for a 4 star, however towels were changed twice daily.

I would say there are 3 mini beaches, one at the far end close to lagoon, shingley & shallow waters, this side is much quieter & chilling
middle beach is pebbly -shingley, didn't swim in that at all, again really quite & relaxing
beach in front of indigo bar has the nicest sand & water was deep enough to swim in, take your snorkel & go to the darker part of the water, theres a lot of fish there! Beach is right by pool, so lots of kids & music which is pretty cool.

All in all I really enjoyed my stay here, would recommend but would not return, its not lux enough & I need a bigger beach!
