Montuak Point State Park is a wonderful way to spend a part or all of your day. The grounds are just beautiful and natural and one can help but hike the dunes, rocks, beaches and trails of the area. For those less adventurous types, there is a restaurant with pool tables, games, full bar, outside deck and more. Of course the highlight is the lighthouse which has been a beacon on the end of Long Island for ages. We walked along the boulders surrounding the lighthouse for a nice stroll with magnificent views. Don't miss this treasure.

I'm glad we were traveling mid-week in May as I'm sure this area is mobbed in summer. However, the state park here along with the lighthouse is just so charming and enjoyable. After walking the grounds and visiting the lighthouse, my husband and I came back to the park, near the playground, where there are picnic benches and bathrooms. We enjoyed a lovely lunch of P&J sandwiches in the sunshine. It capped off a perfect day. The kids there were enjoying the small playground area. Great place!

We walked down to the water and watched some surfers. Then we walked on the rocks all the way around the point. What views!! The water was rough and oh so beautiful!

It was cold when we got there. There's a playground for little kids. Not much to do besides the lighthouse. Only some meager trails. $10/person seemed pretty steep to walk up to the top of the lighthouse (no pun intended). (Also $8 parking.)
