This resort is well worth your visit. All rooms are very nice and you have a great Ocean location. The Resort is a great place to rest and relax with your family as well. It is a great location to all the location amenities, whether it is fishing, golf, the ocean or just to relax, you will not be disappointed. Well worth the visit.

I have been coming to the Driftwood almost every summer for the past decade, but no more. This trip was awful. You pay for the use of a private beach but it gets overrun with unused beach chairs, umbrellas, and locals. Why pay $500+ a night for a private beach, when it is not private and just as crowded as main beach. My heart is broken that my once lovely, quiet beach getaway is no more.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. It can not be expressed how much we value all of our guests, particularly those like you who have come to join us every summer for years.

While, unfortunately, none of the beaches on the East End are technically private, we do appreciate the seclusion that our location typically offers our guests. I am sorry that wasn't your experience.

All the best,
Jennifer

My husband and I go to Montauk several times a year...most of the time, we will go off-season due to the crazy high prices and also how crowded it is during the summer months. We wanted a quick getaway (we are about a 90 minute drive away) and found Driftwood on the Ocean. We usually stay in town but Driftwood had a decent price and looked nice. Well, our expectations were definitely exceeded! We loved it! The beach is gorgeous, the room was clean and spacious for two people. We would have liked more of a kitchen so next time we will try to book a room that offers that. The room did have a small fridge, freezer, and sink area.
The pool looked refreshing, clean, and beautiful -- we were only there for 2 nights so we didn't get to sit by the pool (we went to the beach instead), but our front porch area looked over the pool. We sat out there each morning with our breakfast sandwiches (made by my hubby) and Mimosa's -- ahhh so relaxing! Our back balcony had a view of the dunes, which was also nice.
We did drive into town one day (about 4 miles away) and went to the docks to watch the boats come in. It really was exactly what we needed and wanted for our getaway -- only problem I have now is that I keep daydreaming about going back to relax on that beach!! And, yes, like I've read in another review, you are greeted by friendly staff each day that will bring your chair, umbrella, and towel to the beach for you.
In summary, we loved it here and hope to be back soon! I wish they were open year-round!

There are a lot of choices in Montauk. We did a last minute booking and I grappled with whether or not to be in town or outside of town. This hotel is halfway between Montauk and Amagansett and it was perfect for us. This hotel sits on the loveliest swath of beach. I was shocked that it is not overrun with people but felt empty a lot of the time. It could not be easier. You walk to the beach, they set you up with chairs, towels (small so bring your own as well) and umbrellas. Definitely ask for the renovated rooms. Ours was renovated but the bathroom was not and it was on the old side with peeling paint on the ceiling in the shower. The kitchen, main room and patio were all updated. The rooms are very spacious and the patio that we had faced the dunes which was surprisingly picturesque, and had a table and chairs and wrap around couch. Total added bonus although the cleaning service needs to clean out there as well including wiping down the furniture. I would not hesitate to go back and it would really be great for families with small kids. We biked to Montauk and Amagansett or it's a 5 minute drive. I really dug this hotel. Great vibe.

We recently stayed at the Executive Cottage at Driftwood. Perfect!! Great space, recently renovated, wonderful outdoor space, full kitchen (altho not enough forks)! Ocean is steps away with umbrellas and comfy lounge chairs. We were a family of four and the space more than suited us. The quick drive to Montauk was not problematic. A great stay..already booking another this summer!
