“An amazing family vacation!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 January 2014

Our family ended a two week vacation in France with a week long stay at Chateau Canet. It was the perfect way to end our travels. Everything was exceptional from the accommodations to the fresh croissants and baguettes that arrived each morning. Victoria and her team made everything easy. We explored the area on bikes, lounged by the pool, played tennis, learned about wine making and soaked up the history of the region in several day trips in the region. Just the right amount of down time and explore time. We also loved meeting the other guests at Chateau Canet and enjoyed sharing meals and pool time - the kids loved the built in playmates and meeting families from around the world! An incredible and memorable family vacation.

Early November in southern France: the weather was not always perfect but the accommodation was. The Chateau is outside the charming and well-named village of Rustique, a short drive from the incredible city of Carcassonne. I traveled with a friend and we stayed at the Chateau for 4 days. Our apartment had a bedroom with a double bed, a loft with 3 single beds, a small but well appointed and laid out kitchen area, generous dining/living room, good sized bathroom and a balcony. The Chateau grounds are interesting themselves. The area is great to explore -- the seashore is just a 45 minute drive away and the Cathar history and strongholds in this area are fascinating. The wine and olive oil produced on the Chateau estate are very good; Victoria, our hostess, was friendly and very knowledgable. The decor and furnishings of the apartment were comfortable and attractive. I think Chateau Canet would also be a great place to come with children, or with a group of friends. The simple comfort of the Chateau and the variety of sites and activities easily accessible offer a lot of choices for all ages.

We visited Chateau Canet in July and keep meaning to get round to leaving a review to sing its praises. Lovely stay for a very busy couple who wanted nothing more than to relax and not do very much! Very welcoming couple who make you feel right at home, deliver lovely fresh breakfast to your door and have great tips of neighbouring restaurants and places to go. You would definitely need a car to explore as you feel quite remote (which we loved) and the whole place had more of a cosy feel than lap of luxury but it was absolutely what we were looking for and we only wish we could have stayed longer. Loved the wine tour and owners and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you!

We were pleasantly surprised. There was more to offer than described on the website.
This is the perfect place for families. Lots to do for kids:pool, tennis, games room and play room . The kids all get to know each other and always have someone to play with.
The shared kitchen and BBQ area make up for the small kitchen. There is everything you need.
The very informative wine tour was enjoyable and the staff and owners are very kind and helpful.
We would recommend staying here!

Perfect for the 2nd week of our family holiday. Well described on their website with comfortable, nicely decorated and very clean cottages. We had Syrah, whilst small it was fine for 2 adults and 2 young children (4 and 7) in a bunkbed, with adequate inside and outside space. Well designed pool area and totally secure, however pool depth 1.5m throughout so not ideal for very young children. Playrooms and play areas were a huge success bringing children together to entertain themselves.

Delightful and extremely helpful staff, delicious daily bread delivery and great wine tour which was interesting and informative. Supermarket and local town with good Sunday market within 5 miles.

A nice balance of nationalities (+ve) with children ranging from 4 - 11. A great introduction to Languedoc region and its wines, a wonderful memory.

A big thank you to Elise for all her help and to Floris and family for their opening their lovely domaine to us.

Do you want to enjoy the calm an quit surroundings of a wine domain? Sit in your perfectly located gîte with all conveniences? Enjoy a tour and a tasting and meet the wonderful and friendly owners? .....................................Go for it! We did!
Perfectly located for a nice holiday. Lots of places to see and visit like the ancient city of Carcassonne and travelling by car takes you along the coast line in the South of France. Limoux, Collioure and Fitou are in drining distances. Take the RN roads to enjoy France!
Arriving back in the afternoon the kids could swim, enjoy the playground and jeu de boules. The Gîtes are well maintained and decorated. Very friendly staff and always ready to give you tips and good advises where to go or what to see. It is the perfect combination for a relaxed week but staying longer gives you the opportunity to enjoy more! We certainly go back!

Room Tip: The Gîtes adjoining have a terrace facing the sun.

Why are we going each time to the same place? The answer is very simple…you know what to expect and be 100% sure what is presented on the internet is really what you get:
- A wonderful domain
- Clean and nice gites, from the smallest in front of the pool to the luxury Chardonnay we had this year for a week being there with 6 adults.
- A warm and friendly owner/host
- Lots of special places, small villages to discover in the region especially when you are interested in history and the myths of the Cathars.
We have spent our holidays at Chateau Canet 2004/2005/2007 and this year again 2 weeks during July. Our 2 daughters are now adults. When we were planning this year’s vacation, the decision was quickly taken where we would go to .The girls wanted to show to their boy friend where they had spent the best holidays during their childhood. For us it was also fantastic to be there again, on the domain itself and in a region you get to know better and better but always find new interesting places within a circle of 60 kilometers.
When we left last week we gave Victoria a hug in the knowledge we will get a 5th stay at Chateau Canet within the next years….
