We have eaten here since 2007. It is the ONLY local place where we eat sushi. Nice decor, good food, staff is friendly. We really like Penny, who works by the cash register. She always greets my kids.

Thank Westlaw

As we entered the restaurant past the mod sushi bar to the main dining room filled with mostly young patrons, my wife exclaimed that this "was a happening place". Unfortunately, our dining experience did not reach the initial expectation and was diametrically opposite many of the prior reviews. We ate on a Friday evening when the sushi should have been fresh. However, my wife and I found the sushi and sashimi neither fresh nor firm. We surmise that the fish had been frozen and refrozen which affected its taste and texture. The only hot saki offered at Oishii was not flavorful and seemed watered-down. On the other hand, the soft shell crab Thai style and calamari were excellent appetizers and the service by the young, friendly, English-speaking wait-staff was good. There are other sushi restaurants in the area, notably Kicho's in Bedford Hills, which are infinitely better.

This restaurant is far too good to limit the description to a sushi bar. While they do have superb sushi and sushimi, it is the rest of their extensive and unusual fusion menu that make them absolutely the best.
Starting with the house made fried gyoza (dumplings) and spare ribs and on to their choices of wonderful lo mein with portions too large to finish, their product, flavors, textures et all are wonderful. Their fish dishes are always the freshest and their meats are fresh and well cooked.
The service is really great with a young, energetic and attentive wait staff. We have sampled the menu on several occasions as have our sons and their families who live in the area and all of us have yet to be disappointed. Its worth our trip from Rockland County across the river just to have the experience.

My husband and i have bee to Oishii numerous times. NEVER have we had any problems. Food is excellent, service prompt and courteous. A bit pricey, but the menu is well worth it.

Whenever we drop in, there is always a table and service is slow but accurate. The fish is fresh and the cooked dishes tasty. The best part is the special rolls that are at NY prices but six large pieces for each. Try the volcano roll.
