“Really a lovely resort hotel!”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

I visited my brother who was staying at the Emerson with his family. There are two sides to the hotel. One side is a more romantic, upscale, newer end and the other is a renovated log house end, catering to families and even allows dogs. What you can't see when you drive in is that the rooms face the back and all have patios that face a beautiful stone garden that is next to the river. He stayed with his family in the log house end and the back doors opened to this beautiful garden and sitting area by the river. The rooms were a good size and the beds were good (I heard from them). I met them for breakfast and we went to the restaurant which was lovely. We sat outside by the river and had a very good and reasonable breakfast. It was his wife's birthday and she had some spa treatments there, she was very happy with. The decor is elegant with a Eastern influence in the main restaurant and newer hotel area and the log house is a more rustic design but very tasteful. They had a lovely time and I was impressed as I had only seen it from the road and I had no idea how nice it was.

Room Tip: The log house end of the property is more for families and allows dogs. When they were there it was...

Friendly staff at desk, helped me jump start my car so I could make it into town.

Our room in the inn was very large and had a lot of unique touches that made the room cozy such as a gas fireplace. Jacuzzi tub and room overall were spotless clean. Spa had all the basics, steam room and sauna were segregated into the locker rooms. Massage services were decent but not quite as as good as equivalent priced spas in New York City. Fairly convenient location to Woodstock, Kingston, and not too far from Kaaterskill Falls.

My new husband and I currently live in Saratoga Springs, NY. We attended a wedding at The Emerson in January 2012. The buildings, amenities and service was very impressive. When he popped the question this past December, we knew exactly where we wanted to get married.

We booked The Emerson this past January and have had wonderful communication with the wedding coordinator, Marci. She was very responsive, friendly and really cared about our needs. Our wedding was this past weekend and all of the set up & details were left in Marci & her staff's hands. I'm the type of person who takes care of all those details & set up but Saturday I was the bride and had to trust Marci. To my relief and surprise my ceremony and reception was exactly the way we planned! They did an outstanding job and we can't thank them enough!!!!

If your newly engaged and are looking for a venue, check out The Emerson!

PS, The spa was amazing too!

We stayed here during our travel through the region (Catskills and Hudson Valley) in a family suite in the Lodge (one of the separate buildings, away from the main building). The place was huge, with 2 very large bedrooms, each with probably the biggest King beds we ever slept in, 2 bathrooms and a sitting room. Everything was clean and working properly. We had dinner in one of the two restaurants on the premises (The Catamount restaurand) and loved the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. We also had breakfast in the other restaurant (The Phoenix) and again were pleasantly surprised by the amount and the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. The environment is very pleasant and most rooms have a balcony that overlooks the nearby creek. Two smaller negative points to note : the place is much closer to the highway than you would expect from the pictures on the website, so there is some background noise, and we were disappointed that their attractions, including the world largest Kaleidoscope, already closed at 6.00 and only reopened at 10.00, so as we were only staying for one night, we had to miss out on them. But if you are looking for a good quality hotel in the Catskill region, this is definitely a very good pick.

Room Tip: Try to have a room at the upper floor, as the view is better.

This was our first visit to this area, we picked the hotel online and it was wonderful. The staff were really friendly. The room was large, clean and nicely decorated. We visited both restaurants and enjoyed the food and the view at each. We explored Woodstock, Phoenicia, Hunter Mt. and the Vanderbilt Mansion. We would definitely recommend this place!!

The rooms were simple and the layout of the rooms we had were perfect. Since we had a party of 7, we needed 2 rooms to connect. The rooms were both clean, functional, comfortable, and private. I was a bit anxious to come from the city to party in the woods, but it was super safe and the people could not have been any nicer.

The Spa was amazing and I had the most insightful massage therapist who helped treat my nerve pain. For outside of the city, it was one of the most nicely laid out spas i have been to! There is a dry sauna and a wet sauna as well as showers for you to use.

The restaurant within Emerson is a bit overpriced, but the environment had a beautiful Middle Eastern/Indian vibe. A nice break from the usual "East Asian themed" spa/restaurant.

I recommend anyone to come visit this place---the only complaint I had was the room had no wireless service. Maybe that was why it was so relaxing~!

This was our first time traveling with our 2 dogs and to the Mt. Tremper area. Our room was clean and comfortable. It was hard to believe it was a pet friendly room. The dogs loved the dog run. Overall, we had a nice visit and hated to leave. We will definitely return.
