Four Corners Country Inn

Yes, this place need some works but the owners, Sybile and Frank, are doing so great in updating this place!
All details, which could be quickly fixed, have been upgraded, i.e. towels, beds. It will take a little bite more time to give back to this house its original glory but Sybile and Frank as so passionated I have no doubt about their hard work paying off.

The breakfast is a nice selection of homemade or local products. All fresh and tasty.
The location is great (close to the Catskills mountains) and the food... just amazing! No need to look for another address for dinner, "La Duchesse Anne" is the best restaurant in the area :o)
I hope that we will be able to come back this fall!

Four Corners, nee' La Duchesse Anne, has passed back into the hands of its founding family this summer after several years. The food has always been the star attraction of the establishment. This is first and foremost a restaurant. The new generation of management -- Sybile and Frank-- are making smart decisions. They have an excellent and experienced chef. The high-end bistro menu is now supplemented with simpler, less-expensive fare, making the inn's excellent food accessible to a wider range of budgets than before. Our party of four ordered from every price point and found the simple pasta dish as expertly prepared as the gourmet special sweetbread entree. The bread pudding with bourbon creme anglaise is an outstanding dessert. Sunday brunch features perfectly delicious crepes, which make a leisurely pairing with the Sunday NY Times crossword, available in nearby Phoenicia. The wine list is simple at this stage of the inn's renewal. It will not impress experienced wine drinkers, but is very reasonably priced and presents an intelligent range of choices.

When you read reviews of the rooms you will find opposing opinions. Our family are among those who find the inn utterly charming. This is a 19th century country inn and shows some scars. If you expect an elegantly restored Victorian showplace, you will be disappointed - but not shortchanged. The rooms at Four Corners are reasonably priced. They are clean and comfortable. The bathroom fixtures aren't stylish but, after a long day of hiking in the Catskills, the hot water doesn't run out in the middle of a long shower - which I can't say about some upscale hotels I've stayed at.

Sybile and Frank made us feel completely at home and welcomed. They solicited and appreciated our feedback. They could not have been more friendly. We are checking our calendar for opportunities for return visits in the coming months.

We arrived after having inquired as to whether this b&b was updated and clean only to find the place in complete and total disrepair. The roof was caving in, gutters falling off, paint chipping and pealing and the hostess barely tolerant of our arrival with no welcoming greeting or seeming interest in our being there, save the $ she insisted on collecting, even after we decided, for the first time in all of our trips, to leave as this place was beyond intolerable. A sheet was the closet door in the bedroom, the mattress and carpets seemed to be at least 35 to 40 years old, the furniture chipped,t he toilet was in a closet and the the 10 -inch sink was severely stained. This is an old, tired house that desperately needs repair. When we kindly told these folks we simply could not stay there, the hostess stubbornly insisted we pay for the entire weekend anyway and only relunctantly agreed to charge us one night when I took photos and relayed that we would be contacting the better business bureau. The facility is in dire need of an overhaul and these innkeepers desperately need an education in how to serve the public. BEWARE THE POLICY OF 72-HOUR CANCELLATION AND THE SPIFFY WEBSITE WITH NO PHOTOS OF THE ROOMS AS THIS SEEMS THEIR WAY OF COVERING FOR THELIKELY MANY TIMES FOLKS HAVE LEFT. DO NOT BELIEVE THE POSITIVE REVIEWS ONLINE; THEY WERE LIKELY FRIENDS WHO AUTHORED.

Stayed here with my wife last weekend for a special birthday celebration. A charming house in a beautiful location in the Catskills with easy access to the myriad of hiking trails in the area. The owners/managers Sybile and Frank are absolutely fantastic and work extremely hard at making sure guests feel right at home. We stayed in a mid sized upstairs room which, although it could use some updated carpeting/bathroom fixtures and a new shower head, was overall very comfortable. The Inn also houses a fancy restaurant with tasty French/American dinner options which provided a great end to the day. My wife had penne in vodka cream sauce and I indulged in a salmon braised in red wine. Suffice it to say both plates were licked clean. Although beer/wine list is not ample, it is well thought out. The Inn's Bar is an early 1900s piece and excellent place to chat with other guests and the owners themselves. A healthy breakfast was also included in the price of the rooms (think greek yogurt, fruit, coffee and delicious warm croissants with raspberry preserves).

Overall, a highly recommended destination to serve as base to exploring a beautiful area of NY State, a romantic getaway or both.

This small hotel is charmingly idiosyncratic, with its excellent French restaurant run by the owners, a French-chef husband (Fabrice) and his American wife. As other reviewers note, meal-time is a leisurely affair because Fabrice makes every dish from scratch--something that Americans may not be used to. The dining room has a huge fireplace; nothing beats eating a delicious Fall dinner and then walking upstairs to your room afterwards! Guests need to appreciate the quirky charm of the rooms in La Duchesse Anne, which would never be confused with the Comfort Inn. The rooms here are certainly clean and well decorated; whatever the rooms may lack in cookie-cutter modernity is more than made up for by the overall charm of the building and the super-economical room rates. The Trailways bus from NYC stops about 100 feet from the hotel, so you can get on the bus at the PATH terminal in NYC and arrive at the front door of a charming 'French countryside' hotel less than 3 hours later. Try this hotel, you'll like it!
