We found the inn to be an average stay. Sybile was a very kind and hospitable hostess. Our room was small, but clean. The bed was not level so we switched ends for sleeping. Breakfast was good. We will recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: There is no pool...did not mean to indicate "terrible". There is no fitness center. It i...

The original vibrant spirit of this country inn is returning, thanks to the efforts of the new owners Sybile and Frank. My husband and I just returned from a marvelous overnight wherein the room was spacious and comfortable, the food was superb and our sumptuous breakfast elegantly served by the crackling fireplace this morning was the exclamation point to our whole experience. We've been here before, years back with Martine, the original French owner, and then a few disappointing times with the interim owner. But now, this wonderful inn with its European flair is coming to life again. We look forward to our next visit, hopefully soon.

Room Tip: Each one has its old world charm.

We had a very pleasant stay here back in August and were impressed with the surrounding, the hotel, the room, the food, the service and above all the drive and dedication of the young couple running the place. The energy. They were very much aware of the shortcommings of an old hotel and had a clear plan to tackle some of the maintanance requirements but their hospitality throughout the day and well into the evenings at the bar made these issues seem so trivial... Great place, will most certainly go back!

My wife Cathy and I used to come up to Mount Tremper some years back, to stay here when it was called La Duchesse Anne. It was a great little Inn, with a surprisingly good French restaurant, and we really enjoyed coming there. Subsequently we've read some mixed reviews from recent years that surprised us, as we had always loved this place. It seemed some guests had issues with the condition of the inn. Well, we've recently spent the weekend there, and I can happily say all is well. We solved the mystery of the mixed reviews by speaking with some of the locals about it. It seems that there was about a six year period when interim innkeepers took over from the original owners (Martine and Bruce), and failed to put the needed maintenance into the property. By the time the new innkeepers (Sibyle and Frank) took over, about a year ago, the inn was showing signs of this neglect. Since then they have been putting their blood, sweat and tears into the property, and it really shows. The newly named "Four Corners Country Inn" is actually in better condition now than when we were coming a number of years back. Sibyle and Frank are warm and friendly, and they make you feel welcome and comfortable from the moment you arrive and for your entire stay. What sets the Four Corners apart from some of the other Inns in the area, aside from it's excellent French restaurant (enough said about the quality of the food in other reviews), is the warm and cozy bar room where guests can hang out before or after dinner. Frank tends bar, and Sibyle helps wait in the restaurant and tends to the exceptional breakfast buffet, replete with warm croissants and biscuits with an array of Sybile's home made preserves, yogurt and honey, various cereals & granolas, juices and fresh coffee. Sibyle & Frank are a hard working young couple who have obviously put their heart into this place, and I am truly pleased to say that they have brought it back to, and beyond it's previous glory.

I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. It is a real country inn, in a beautiful area of the mountains, run by a welcoming and gracious young couple.

We will certainly be returning.

The new owners of this wonderful Inn made our experience memorable. The room we stayed in was homey and the king size matress was very comfortable. The room itself was very clean. The only reason I did not rate the room as excellent is due to the shower being small. After checking in, we went to their beautiful wood bar and had a drink with the new owners and several locals, engaging in both fun and stimulationg conversation. We also ordered a creme brulee.... it was to die for!!!! In the morning, we were treated to a breakfast of cereals, homemade jams, croissants, boiled eggs, and fresh fruit. Amazingingly good... They make their own deserts, jams, and breads, as well as their menu items. We ate before we found this place, so we did not eat dinner, but others were raving about the food.

A couple of weekends a go Laura and I went back for dinner. The prior time, our first visit to the new restaurant (heir to the Duchesse Anne), was on a Thursday, and we greatly enjoyed the prix fix menu, a superb bargain.
When we entered the dining room, we were greeted warmly by our host and a (gas) fire in the old stone fireplace. The place has wonderful atmosphere. It's furnished with chandeliers and big furniture, which is not at all gaudy, but lends the dining room an air of country comfort.
As she had on our prior visit, Laura ordered the Cherry Cosmo (cherry moonshine, triple sec, lime juice, cranberry juice with garnish - $8); I ordered a half carafe of the house Cabernet. We were both quite satisfied with our beverages. For appetizer we ordered fried calamari, which was served with a fine marinara sauce, and, an added treat, their pesto mayonnaise (yum!).
For entree I ordered coq au vin ($18): quite very good, a generous portion: this classic dish can be cliched and tired, but this take on it was very satisfying (and enough for me to take some home and nosh on it the day after). Laura ordered the red snapper; she was served two filets, and took one home, as well.
For dessert we ordered our old favorite, Crème brûlée. I did not think it measured up to the standard of the meal; seemed tired, and was cold inside, though it did have the requisite crunchy top.
Overall, I rate this restaurant as very good. I'll add that it needs to be a bit more consistent, and I feel it will improve with time. I will definitely go back, and recommend it. We have had a house in the area for many years, and went to the Duchesses Anne a number of times. Having the Four Corners in the neighborhood is wonderful.
