We spent a fun day at the preserve. Our primary goal was to climb the labyrinth. We hiked up to the Mohonk Mountain House and then continued along the Mohonk lake up to the labyrinth and then up to the mountain top. The climb is streneous at times but the views are rewarding and the experience of squeezing your self up through very narrow gorges is worth the effort. Add to that great photo ops when you get to the peak (not for the faint of heart, even not watching the brave ones who pose at the very tip of the rock) and a great day is guaranteed.

I would not recommend this for kids below 12 years old or to anyone who is not in a good fit as the experience might become a nighmare.

Stay at Mohonk Mountain House and hike into Mohonk Preserve. Endless miles of trails along cliff edges and mountain tops to enjoy the beautiful vistas. Trails range from rock scrambles to groomed gravel paths. Something for all ages.

We spent a lovely day in the preserve. It was a bit more than 20 for each to get in and then a shuttle to get to the house.
We started with a picnic at the picnic lodge, tables and maps were set for us to have our home made food with an option to buy a pizza or another treat.

Then we walked around the lake. The views are great and they were plenty of view points setup for us on high chairs.

We also tried the boats

Vey nice day, 2 hours drive away.

Great hiking, great views, nice ambiance. Wonderful to be away in the mountains enjoying nature. Well marked, good map for hiking. Resort is beautiful. Makes you really appreciate your surroundings. Parking is a bit on the expensive side for a day pass type setup.

The Preserve is a beautiful landscape and I am glad it is managed and protected for all to enjoy.
There are cliffs to climb, carriage paths to bike and trails to hike. Get there early on the weekends as parking lots fill quickly.
